Exus is seeking a Renewables Director of Development - East. The Director of Development will direct and oversee active development of projects within Exus’ portfolio, primary focus on solar and wind located in the Eastern area of the United States, including but not limited to PJM and southern MISO states. Focusing on safety, quality, contract negotiations, budget, schedule, subcontractors, suppliers, and change orders. This position will be responsible for the oversight of active projects within the Exus development portfolio.

Please note: this is an fully onsite role with reasonable flexibility in our Downtown Pittsburgh office.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Create and execute project development plans to meet project objectives, including cost, schedule, and resources.
  2. Ensures the project is constructed safely and to a high-quality standard and resourced correctly to complete on time and within budget.
  3. Select and manage development contractors and consultants, and develop effective working relationships with sub-contractors, utilities, and clients.
  4. Reviews budget and cost to complete projections, while ensuring projects meeting requirements for budgeting.
  5. Manage and coordinate a team to lead all aspects of project development, including but not limited to energy and technical assessments, local/state/federal permitting, land acquisition and title curative work, commercial and technical aspects of project interconnection, environmental assessments, stakeholder consultation and management, project technical design and infrastructure siting, construction contracting, & equipment procurement and commercial negotiation.
  6. Generates internal reports for the project, personnel, budget, and schedule updates.
  7. Oversee development work performed by joint venture and partner developers.
  8. Identify or originate new growth opportunities.
  9. Guides and directs the Project Managers to deliver quality projects on time and within budget successfully.
  10. Perform and lead due diligence review of prospective wind, solar, and/or storage development asset acquisitions.
  11. Reviews internal and external weekly and monthly project reports generated by Project managers and site teams.
  12. Identified project constraints and develops response plans.
  13. Prepares and submits proposal requests, directing, and overseeing the pre-construction teams.
  14. Support project finance, offtake RFP and permitting submissions, and project acquisition efforts.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent relevant experience, master’s preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of federal and state permitting regimes, including county use permits, ordinance, state siting processes and federal permitting laws (NEPA, ESA, CWA, etc.)
  • Familiar with project development in PJM, MISO, NYISO and NE-ISO
  • 3+ years of experience in Director level or similar position with relevant and comparable construction projects.
  • Strong track record of successful development in wind, solar, and/or storage development.
  • Experience managing and interacting with remote and/or direct internal and external resources, including consultants and contractors.
