We offer a unique opportunity to contribute to the tourism industry and work collaboratively with a variety of local businesses to drive year-round sustainable growth for Greater Victoria.

Summary of Director, Data Strategy & Insights role:

Destination Greater Victoria (DGV) is seeking a collaborative professional to help us build stronger internal capability in data management and dashboarding, AI-enabled process improvement, and enterprise risk management. Reporting to the VP Marketing Communications the Director, Data Strategy and Insights will support three developing areas of focus across the organization, the day-to-day management of DGV’s integrated data platform, the development of a consistent enterprise-level approach to AI-enabled process automation, and support for DGV’s enterprise risk management process.

In this role, you will help ensure data is well organized, data sets are clean, and teams are supported in using DGV’s integrated data platform effectively. You will also help build practical and consistent approaches to process mapping, automation, and responsible AI use, including appropriate guardrails and support for teams as this capability develops.

This is a cross-functional role for someone who is curious, analytical, and able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences. It is a good opportunity for someone who wants to help an organization build stronger systems, clearer insights, and more consistent ways of working.

This position is a hybrid role, with a requirement to work in-office at least three times per week, requiring the successful candidate to be located in the Greater Victoria region. It is a full-time position, 35 hours per week. The salary is between $85,000-$90,000.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, data analytics, economics, or a related field.

  • 2–5 years of experience in data analytics, research, consulting, or a related field.

  • Experience interpreting external research, government reports, and statistical datasets.

  • Strong ability to synthesize data into clear insights and recommendations for decision-makers.

  • Exposure to enterprise-level thinking, including risk awareness, trend identification, and strategic analysis.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with analytics and data tools, with strong day-to-day use of Excel and Power BI, and working experience with platforms such as CoStar and AirDNA.

  • Familiarity with modern data environments, including an understanding of data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake) and how structured data is stored and accessed.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain data in plain language to non-technical audiences.

  • Curious and forward-looking; able to identify patterns and emerging trends.

  • Strong judgement in interpreting data responsibly, including understanding limitations and risk.

  • Collaborative and pragmatic; able to work across teams and balance competing priorities.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
