  • Build the business case and sell investments in technology that improve data quality and usability
  • Ensure solutions are operationally effective, scalable, and adopted by the business

Leadership & Influence

  • Demonstrate strong executive presence when communicating data strategy and investment needs
  • Align cross-functional teams (IT, Supply Chain, Merch, Procurement) around shared data goals
  • Balance tactical execution with strategic vision

Job Summary

Responsible for creating and driving the overall strategy and requirements for all data domains within the business unit. Provide oversight and leadership to the definition, implementation, maintenance and enforcement of data standards.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

  • Oversees the data governance process, including managing the cross-functional data councils.
  • Provides leadership regarding the change process for data, including controls, oversight, approval, communication and documentation.
  • Plays a critical role in understanding and communicating the downstream implications of data changes and works with the functional and IT leaders to identify optimal solutions.
  • Identifies and implements industry standards and best practices for data governance and management.
  • Ensures data integrity and quality and owns the data quality function including regular data audits and quality reporting.
  • Participates in the organization’s formal Software Development Life Cycle Process team. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Work Environment

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 9+ years of experience in a related field, including several years in a management/supervisory capacity.
