Job Summary:

The Director, Data Governance will spearhead the development, implementation, and management of enterprise-level data governance strategies. This critical role will oversee multiple facets of the Data Governance Program.

Responsibilities:

  • Data Governance Strategy: Craft and implement a holistic data governance strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals and industry best practices.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce data quality standards, policies, and procedures to maintain data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
  • Data Compliance: Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations, and implement robust data protection mechanisms.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with business units, IT teams, and data owners to define data governance roles, responsibilities, and foster a culture of data ownership.
  • Metadata Management: Oversee metadata repositories, ensuring effective data lineage, data dictionaries, and data catalogs.
  • Data Governance Framework: Design and maintain a data governance framework that includes data classification, access controls, and life cycle management.
  • Data Stewardship: Identify and train data stewards to monitor and ensure data quality and compliance across the organization.
  • Data Governance Tools: Assess, select, and deploy data governance tools and platforms to optimize data management processes.
  • Data Governance Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on data governance performance and compliance to senior leadership.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data governance, proactively recommending enhancements to the program.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business operations, data management, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data governance, with a proven track record of establishing and managing new data governance programs.
  • Expertise in defining data governance roles and responsibilities within an enterprise, leading Data Governance Committees, and championing the data program to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in managing data lineage, data mapping, creating data dictionaries and glossaries, and developing metrics.
  • Proficiency in System Query Language (SQL) is essential.
  • Experience with data tools such as Collibra, Alation, Snowflake, Informatica Data Quality, and/or Azure Data factory, SQL, Store Procs is a plus.
