The Data Engineering Director is responsible for the development and maintenance of MeridianLink's software products. The Data Engineering subfamily is responsible for the design, build, implementation, and maintenance of data processes throughout the organization. The Data Engineering Director will oversee the strategic direction, establishment/execution of objectives, and/or people management of the Data Engineering function. The role will manage existing data resources, implement new technologies and tools to further enable science and analytics, as well as help, drive scalable data sharing practices. The role is responsible for establishing database management systems, standards, guidelines, and quality assurance for deliverables, such as conceptual design, logical database, taxonomy, data storage and capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan, and security policy.
Expected Duties:
The Data Engineering Director will define the tables and fields provided in a database using standards and guidelines such as conceptual design, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plans, data maintenance plans, and security policy to code complex programs and builds windows, screens, and reports
Expected to oversee database management systems, standards, guidelines, and quality assurance
Responsible for managing database deliverables, such as conceptual design, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan, and security policy
The Data Engineering Director will work with tools, languages, data processing frameworks, and databases such as R, Python, SQL, MongoDB, Redis, Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Scala, Bigtable, Cassandra, Presto, Strom
Expected to work with structured and unstructured data from a variety of data stores, such as data lakes, relational database management systems, and/or data warehouses
Manages the adaptation of business requirements, developed by modeling/development staff and systems engineers, and develops the data, database specifications, and table and element attributes for an application.
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The management position is expected to execute processes within a subfunction or department. The role requires the establishment of annual objectives and the execution of tactics to meet those objectives. The management role often includes P&L responsibilities. The role will have a broad knowledge of the field with proven leadership skills. The individual in the role will be responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews with managing the activities of first-level managers and/or supervisors. The management position will guide by function or department practices and well-defined management precedents.
Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience
Ability to Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established MeridianLink policies
Ability to recommend changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect section or multiple disciplines
Ability to executes financials, business planning, organizational priorities, and workforce
Ability to follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
Ability to develop and manages operational initiatives to deliver tactical results
Interacts frequently with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group professionals, involving matters between sections and multiple units
Responsible for impact partnering with key contacts outside own area of expertise and other external stakeholders
Ability to effectively communicates and presents results and recommendations across discipline
Ability to participate with senior management to establish strategic plans and objectives. Makes final decisions on implementation and ensures operational effectiveness
Ability to effectively cascades functional strategy and contributes to development of organizational policies
