The Role
Lead and scale a ~30-person data engineering organization to deliver cloud data and analytics platforms as products. Define roadmap, enforce governance and reliability, promote modern data engineering practices (Python, Spark, dbt), improve delivery predictability, coach leaders, and drive cross‑functional partnership to measure and deliver business outcomes.
Summary Generated by Built In

We’re operating modern, secure data and analytics platforms that make it easy for teams to use trusted data for analytics, AI, and decision-making.

You’ll work with us to grow and support an engineering organisation of ~30 people, shaping a platform that operates as a product – is reliable, well‑governed, and delightful to use. If you’re excited about scaling teams, simplifying complexity, and delivering clear outcomes, we’d love to hear from you!

What you’ll do

Lead with impact

  • Partner with us to set a clear vision and roadmap for our cloud data and analytics products (e.g., Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, AWS), aligned to business value.
  • Champion the creation of digital, developer-centric platform-as-a-product which provide opinionated self‑service capabilities
  • Prioritise customer outcomes and a product mindset: clear ownership, measurable outcomes, and continuous feedback loops.
  • Grow an inclusive, high‑performing engineering team; coach leaders, hire thoughtfully, create a culture of learning and psychological safety.
  • Create a coherent, coordinated engineering organisation across BI, data management, analytics and data governance - driving one way of working and shared standards.

Design for trust, reliability, and scale

  • Embed governance, security, privacy, and compliance from the start using tools such as Microsoft Purview and Collibra.
  • Simplify data ingestion from diverse sources with resilient real‑time and batch pipelines.
  • Define and uphold standards for reliability, disaster recovery, and data quality—minimising data loss and downtime.

Enable great engineering

  • Uplift engineering craft and consistency: modern software engineering practices, well‑defined interfaces/APIs, automated testing, CI/CD, and operational excellence.
  • Drive platform reuse over one‑off delivery: shared building blocks, reference implementations, and inner‑sourcing where it reduces cost and improves quality.
  • Promote practical, modern data engineering practices (e.g., Python, Spark, dbt) through architecture reviews, coaching, and automation.
  • Measure what matters: use OKRs, KPIs, and service metrics (SLOs/SLIs) to guide decisions and improve outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships with partner teams in Sales, Operations, Finance, Risk, and HR—and with suppliers—so delivery is predictable and trusted.
  • Build a high‑performance delivery culture: predictable planning, clear ownership, fast feedback, and transparency on delivery, reliability, and customer impact.

About you

We welcome different paths and experiences. You don’t need to tick every box to apply—if you’re close, we’d love to talk.

  • You’ve led senior engineering teams to deliver large‑scale cloud data platforms with clear business impact.
  • You’re comfortable making and explaining architectural decisions, and you create space for others to contribute.
  • You bring depth in at least some of: Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, AWS, Spark, Python, dbt—and you learn new tools when they’re the right fit.
  • You care deeply about data security, privacy, and governance, and you’ve used tools like Purview or Collibra (or similar) to make this real.
  • You communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical audiences, turning complex topics into practical, inclusive narratives.
  • You’ve led geographically distributed teams, improving team effectiveness, engineering standards, and delivery outcomes.
  • You’ve set reliability standards and supported both analytical and operational workloads at scale.

How we work

  • People first: We foster inclusive teams where different perspectives are heard and valued.
  • Outcomes over optics: We measure success with transparent goals and service metrics.
  • Craft and pragmatism: We value thoughtful design and automation, balanced with real‑world delivery.
  • Collaboration: We build with our users and partners, not for them.
  • One engineering culture: We work as one team across disciplines and locations, with shared standards, respectful challenge, and a bias to reuse what already works.

Why join us

  • Real impact: Your leadership will shape how the company uses data every day.
  • Growth: You’ll develop leaders, set strategy, and still stay close to the engineering craft.
  • Supportive culture: Flexible working, inclusive practices, and time for learning are part of how we operate.
  • Visibility: You’ll collaborate across business and technology, influencing decisions at senior levels.

If you’re energised by building platforms that help people do their best work with data, we’d love to hear from you!

What you’ll get in return:

High-impact projects: We work on a variety of pioneering AI products and leverage extensive datasets to solve high-value challenges.

Competitive benefits: We offer a strong compensation package, comprehensive benefits, and ongoing investment in career growth and skill development.

Industry leadership: We deliver brand-new products that democratize modeling and analytics solutions.

Career progression: We provide opportunities for continuous learning and professional development in a work environment of dedicated, highly experienced teams.

We recognize that to attract the best talent, we need to be flexible, and we are open to discussing work arrangements with you. We take a hybrid approach to the workplace; this role is considered ‘digital first’, which requires attending the office at least one day per week while some teams and colleagues choose to collaborate in the office more frequently.
