The purpose of this role is to provide expert leadership and operational oversight for all short-term inpatient crisis stabilization programs, ensuring immediate access to safe, high-quality, and compliant care, while managing patient flow, high-stakes clinical decision-making, and throughput within 24/7 operations.

Key Success Measures


  • Audit and Regulatory Compliance: Maintains zero repeat high-risk findings across community and diversion programs, ensures 100% of identified high-risk findings have an approved corrective action plan within 10 business days, and achieves full resolution within required regulatory or accreditation timelines.
  • Achieve and sustain ≥90% of quality and compliance events within low-risk thresholds (TJS) and maintain a Net Promoter Score (NPS) >80 for crisis services.
  • Length of Stay and Timely Admissions: Maintains average program length of stay within the established clinical and payer-authorized target, with at least 90% of clients discharged within the approved length of stay range, and completes admission or transfer for at least 85% of accepted, clinically ready referrals within two hours of acceptance.

Key Activities:

  • Ensure Quality, Safety & Compliance (High-Risk): Ensure regulatory compliance and clinical integrity across all crisis stabilization programs, with a focus on adherence to Joint Commission Standards and high-acuity risk mitigation.
  • Optimize Patient Flow & Throughput: Optimize throughput and average length of stay (LOS) within crisis programs to ensure timely bed availability for new admissions and effective transition planning to the next level of care.
  • Drive Operational & Clinical Performance: Drive program performance by fostering a culture of accountability, rapid decision-making, and consistent execution of the crisis stabilization model.
  • Workforce Development for Crisis Services: Recruit, develop, and retain a highly skilled and resilient clinical team specialized in crisis intervention and high-acuity behavioral healthcare.
  • Standardize Crisis Care Models: Standardize clinical protocols and milieu management practices across all crisis stabilization units to reduce variability and ensure consistent, reliable adherence to best-known care standards.
  • Develop and Mentor Manager-Level Leadership: Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management to the two reporting directors to cultivate a high-performing, resilient, and accountable leadership team.
  • Leadership & Team Development: Provide supervision, coaching, and performance management for staff, establish department goals and accountability standards, support staff development and operational consistency across crisis functions

Skills & Experience:

  • Preferred experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or multi-site service environments
  • Demonstrated experience in operational leadership within high-acuity behavioral health or crisis care settings
  • Expertise in managing integrated care models, specifically community-based diversion and short-term inpatient stabilization.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements and safety standards in crisis services
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple operational priorities in fast-paced environments

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Primarily operates in office, healthcare, residential, and community-based environments
  • Requires frequent movement throughout agency facilities and grounds
  • Ability to travel between sites and attend meetings across locations as needed
  • Ability to inspect maintenance areas, mechanical systems, rooftops, and operational spaces
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Social Work or related field preferred
    • Minimum of (3) years of progressively responsible crisis management experience
    • Minimum of (2) years of leadership or supervisory experience
    • Experience overseeing multi-site operations and teams
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between agency locations
