What You’ll Take On:- Serve as advisor and partner to Human Resources and key business leaders on all employment and employee benefit issues in North America including, for instance, issues relating to performance management, investigations, terminations, workforce change, leaves and accommodations, and wage and hour compliance.
- Develop, draft, and implement company policies, employee handbooks, agreements, standards, and business procedures designed to foster compliance with applicable employment laws.
- Drive efficiencies and achieve process improvements through collaboration with Human Resources and other corporate functions.
- Analyze impact of legislative changes to our employment and employee benefit practices, policies, and procedures.
- Negotiate and review employment agreements, independent contractor arrangements, and certain vendor agreements.
- Structure, negotiate, and draft settlement agreements, separation agreements, and other related agreements and policies.
- Assist or lead in handling employment litigation and pre-litigation disputes; hands-on role in coordinating and directing case strategy, including discovery, drafting and editing briefs, internal investigations, interviewing and preparing witnesses, and negotiations with third parties.
- Develop and lead training programs for Human Resources.
- The ability to work well in a fast-paced, high volume, in-house environment, demonstrating responsiveness, good business judgment, flexibility, self-confidence, and a sense of humor.
- Demonstrable experience acting as a trusted business partner enabling businesses to measure and manage risk in a changing landscape.
- The ability to be innovative and provide creative solutions to complex legal problems.
- Deep knowledge of US employment laws, including in California, Texas, and New York. Knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial employment laws is preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience with employee benefit laws is also highly valued.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- JD from an ABA accredited university.
- Must be a member in good standing of the California or New York Bar.
- Minimum of 6 years relevant employment experience in a law firm and/or corporate law department required, including both counseling and litigation experience.
- Prior in-house experience with a public company and/or experience working with technology companies preferred.

The pay range for this position in New York at the start of employment is expected to be between $163,400 and $241,820 per Year. However, base pay offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards and eligibility to participate in our 401(K) plan and Employee Stock Purchase Program. Regular, full-time employees are also eligible for a range of benefits at the Company, including: medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance coverage; 14 paid holidays per calendar year; paid vacation time per calendar year (ranging from 15 to 25 days) or eligibility to participate in the Company’s discretionary time off program; up to 10 paid sick days per calendar year; paid parental and compassionate leave; wellbeing programs for mental health and other wellness support; family planning support through Maven; commuter benefits; and reimbursements for fitness-related expenses.
