About The Role

Our Corporate Positioning & Insights team is looking for a Director who will take an active role in supporting the day-to-day management of client accounts. FTI Consulting’s Corporate Positioning & Insights practice partners with our clients to design and execute multi-stakeholder campaigns that build confidence, enhance positioning and elicit action among key stakeholder groups. We help organizations define their corporate narrative and use strategic communications to protect and promote their license to operate. The Director will also flex onto event-driven engagements (e.g. IPO, crisis/issues management, M&A, etc.) so the right candidate is a confident and strong project manager, thrives in fast-paced environments and is excited to roll up their sleeves to craft strategies, messaging, stakeholder communications and content, and beyond.

This person will interact with and provide communications support and counsel to client companies, develop and execute integrated communications strategies to deliver results that meet client expectations, and actively participate in firm development and new business pursuits to help grow the business.

What You’ll Do 

  • Develop understanding of client’s objectives to  design and plan integrated communication strategies and execute program tactics across owned, earned, shared and paid channels

  • Serve as one of the  day-to-day client contacts on accounts; manage the overall quality of work by demonstrating professional and team leadership

  • Play a central role in project management, effectively assigning, delegating, coordinating and monitoring the work of team members assigned to client projects

  • Build and nurture strong media contacts (including both traditional and online) while conducting active outreach to media on behalf of clients and the firm

  • Write and edit a variety of materials (e.g., memos, press releases, presentations, emails, media pitches, web content, social media content, etc.)

  •  Use digital and media intelligence platforms (Brandwatch, Factiva, Meltwater, Ninacat, etc) to derive insights about client campaigns and initiatives and influence strategy

  • Participate in preparing new business presentations and in some instances pitching potential new clients

  • Counsel clients about industry and market developments

  • Develop accurate project budgets and support billing procedures to ensure timely and accurate delivery of client invoice

  • Support the development, production and marketing of firm thought leadership surrounding emerging trends and issues

  • Be an engaged member of the team and mentor consultants and senior consultants to support their development

What You Will Need To Succeed  

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of post-graduate professional experience and previous communications experience within a corporate, agency or similar organization

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Journalism, Corporate Communications or related field

  • Ability to travel to clients and to FTI Consulting’s office(s) as needed

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; this position does not provide visa sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience providing positioning, communications and other strategic counsel to clients 

  • Experience working with the media to shape coverage and secure meaningful engagement for clients through traditional news, digital, trade, podcasts, etc.

  • Experience developing executive positioning and thought leadership campaigns for senior-level executives

  • Experience with influencers/influencer strategy and the latest channels (podcasts, substack, etc)

  • Experience defining and tracking key performance indicators

  • Confident and experienced project manager with the ability to manage multiple accounts in a dynamic, fast-paced environment including scheduling calls, meeting client deadlines, managing billing/hours, and staying up to date on client information

  • Bring creative ideas to clients that highlight our team’s skills and the rest of the firm’s capabilities

  • Willingness to attend conferences and industry events to prospect and network

  • Actively manage, develop, inspire, and motivate your team to excel

Compensation
Minimum Pay: $102,000
Maximum Pay: $173,000
Compensation Disclosure: The compensation range reflects potential base salary for the role. Actual compensation is determined based on a wide array of relevant factors including market considerations, business needs, and an individual’s location, skills, level of experience, and qualifications.
