Description:

Overview

Guy Carpenter, a Marsh business, is seeking a Director, Content & Thought Leadership to lead editorial strategy and produce high-impact content that positions firm leaders as trusted authorities in reinsurance and related financial services. Reporting to senior leadership, this role manages a small content team, partner closely with analytics, client insight, PR/media, brand, events, product and client teams, and deliver measurable thought-leadership programs—flagship research, executive narratives, and integrated campaigns—that advance reputation and commercial objectives across regions and channels.

Why this role matters and key responsibilities:

  • Define and lead the firm’s thought‑leadership agenda: advise senior leaders and the C‑suite, oversee flagship research and executive narratives, and manage an editorial calendar aligned to business and product goals.
  • Translate data and customer insights into creative briefs and industry/practice‑level content strategies to improve targeting, product positioning, and campaign effectiveness.
  • Leverage AI and automation tools to accelerate content development, improve quality and personalization, and increase efficiency across the content and thought‑leadership program.
  • Design integrated, channel‑optimized programs and select the optimal delivery mix (social, media, events, client channels) to increase influence, support business development, and drive revenue.
  • Oversee campaign and regional program delivery, measure performance, iterate tactics using analytics, and present plans to clients to secure approvals.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams (insight, product, client, carrier, PR/brand) to align product mix, pricing strategy, and executive positioning.
  • Monitor and manage budgets, funding, and compensation approaches (including commissions, marketing service fees, contingencies, and project funding), recommend adjustments, and report progress to maximize ROI.
  • Evaluate team performance and staffing regularly to ensure productivity and appropriate resourcing.

Qualifications Required:

  • 8+ years’ experience in content strategy, editorial leadership, corporate communications, or thought leadership (B2B or professional services preferred).
  • Portfolio of executive level writing; excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Strategic thinker with experience linking content to business outcomes.
  • Proven stakeholder management and cross functional influence.
  • Experience with multichannel amplification and managing content teams/vendors.
  • Comfortable in a matrixed organization.
  • Hybrid NYC work and occasional travel required.

Preferred:

  • Reinsurance/insurance/financial services knowledge.
  • Experience with research led campaigns and analytics teams.
  • Track record placing executive bylines in top-tier outlets.
  • Advanced degree in a related field.
