Director, Consumer Insights & Data Analytics
Position Overview:
The Director of Consumer Insights & Data Analytics will play a key role in Brilliant Earth’s mission by helping the company better understand how consumers think and act through the Jewelry purchase. You will drive and communicate insights to optimize customer behaviors and the purchase journey, identify key segments across our customers, and drive marketing activities through data. You will play a key role in driving the data foundation, creating tools, defining best practices, and building Brilliant Earth’s data and analytics strategy.
As the Director, Consumer Insights & Data Analytics, you will lead a team to work cross-functionally and collaboratively to ensure that the insights of their work are incorporated across company plans from marketing to product development to the showroom experience.
What you’ll do:
Business and Consumer Insights:
- Lead path to purchase research across categories, identifying new areas to increase overall site conversion, optimize performance and improve the customer journey.
- Develop insights on shifting customer perception toward categories and the corresponding impacts on shopping behaviors.
- Identify growth opportunities by analyzing user behavior, navigation patterns, page performance and conversion funnels
- Understand and define the key factors in ecommerce and showroom experience for Brilliant Earth
- Develop tools to understand and track brand strength for Brilliant Earth focused on changes in awareness, familiarity and consideration over time.
Consumer Segmentation and CRM:
- Develop consumer cohort and purchase behavior analyses across purchase channels, to better understand and drive repurchase and lifetime value
- Provide customer insights for brand, performance marketing and CRM teams for for use in optimizing marketing strategies and tactics.
- Develop a reporting framework to continuously measure repurchase & lifetime value.
- Play a key role in the development and data foundation required to support a Brilliant Earth loyalty program.
Marketing Data & Analytics:
- Provide analytics and insights to stakeholders within the ecommerce and brand teams focused on both upper and lower funnel marketing activities.
- Lead marketing campaign analysis across all channels including CRM, Social, Organic, and Performance and build processes which enable comparison of campaigns over time.
- Develop full funnel attribution frameworks with consideration for transactions and activities which lead to transactions.
Business tools and monitoring:
- Create self-service analytics reporting structures which enable data driven decision making to scale efficiently across the organization.
- Develop reliable forecasting processes for key activities and business processes across the organization as a foundation for business health monitoring.
- Develop monitoring tools and capabilities, ensuring business foundations and processes are functioning as expected and automatically alert business teams if outlier conditions exist.
Data foundations:
- Lead and educate the organization on digital analytics; drive data and analytics best practices.
- Ensure data source and tagging stability, focused on repeatable insights which can be trusted by business owners and teams.
- Ensure projects and platform changes across the organization consider analytics, and new capabilities are building upon the data foundation.
- Provide leadership in driving the organization’s data strategy and data foundations to ensure the organization is using data effectively and scaling sufficiently to support the business.
You’re a great candidate if you have:
- 10+ years of relevant Consumer Insights and Digital Analytics leadership experience
- Robust understanding of data and analytics technology. Experience leading strategy and implementation for platforms and tools such as GA4, Domo, Snowflake
- Demonstrated experience providing insights relating to digital marketing channels and activities (Paid Search, SEO, Affiliates, Display, Paid Social)
- Experience leading and driving consumer journey and website experience optimization analytics
- Experience defining, developing and communicating CRM and Consumer cohort insights
- Experience in consumer segmentation and developing a data-based cohort modeling
- The ability to communicate complex concepts to a variety of audiences
- Robust analytic, quantitative, statistical, and data interpretation skills, ability to transform data into actionable insights
- Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing teams, with a track record of driving results through effective team management and mentorship.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Self-starter with a proactive and entrepreneurial spirit, able to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment while maintaining a focus on achieving both business and social goals. Possesses strong problem-solving skills, approaching challenges with a positive and innovative mindset to drive solutions.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, Google Analytics and Javascript are a plus
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferred
