POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, Commercial Training & Effectiveness is a hands-on, strategic leader responsible for building and scaling training programs that enable high-performing customer-facing teams across both in-market and for future pipeline products. In a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, this role ensures training evolves alongside the business—anticipating needs, closing capability gaps, and equipping teams to execute with confidence and impact.

This individual owns the end-to-end planning and execution of new hire onboarding, major meeting training, and ongoing initiatives aligned to key commercial priorities. They partner closely with a Field Trainer team (without direct reporting authority) to drive consistent, high-quality execution and sustained field adoption.

Working cross-functionally with Commercial Operations, Sales, Marketing, Market Access, Medical, HR, International teams, and external partners, this role translates strategy into practical, scalable training solutions that are compliant, aligned, and built to support rapid growth and launch readiness.

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess, build, and evolve commercial training programs across disease state, product knowledge, onboarding, advanced training, selling skills, account planning, coaching, and professional development.
  • Design and execute a forward-looking training strategy that builds critical capabilities and supports key milestones, including product launches and national/regional meetings.
  • Prioritize training initiatives to align with the highest-impact business needs in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment.
  • Lead end-to-end new hire training, ensuring programs are scalable and aligned with short- and long-term commercial objectives.
  • Own training readiness for product launches, ensuring field teams are equipped for successful execution at launch.
  • Ensure training reflects the complexities of the rare disease patient journey, including stakeholder coordination, access dynamics, and high-touch engagement models.
  • Develop and maintain compliant, field-relevant training materials and resources, ensuring alignment with evolving data, market dynamics, and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner cross-functionally to align training with brand strategy, customer needs, and commercial objectives.
  • Define and track KPIs to measure training effectiveness and field impact.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Sales, Marketing, and Market Access, delivering scalable, differentiated training solutions.
  • Drive rollout, adoption, and continuous feedback for customer-facing materials in partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Identify and implement best practices to strengthen execution of the Brand Plan in the field.
  • Operate with an entrepreneurial mindset, identifying gaps and delivering practical, innovative solutions in a dynamic environment.
  • Coordinate with global teams to ensure alignment on product and disease training while adapting to regional needs.
  • Partner with Commercial Operations and Analytics to incorporate data-driven insights into training strategies.
  • Support broader commercial and professional development initiatives as needed in a collaborative environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education /Experience:

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • 7+ years of experience within the pharma/biotech market.
  • 5+ years of experience in field medical or sales.
  • 2+ years of direct management experience, home office, field or other.
  • 2+ years of experience in organizational training and development.
  • Experience in niche or rare disease markets, preference in liver.
  • Previous launch experience desired.
  • Small biotech experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and experience in building different types of training to include decks, workshops, static resources, and more.
  • Strong proficiency in designing and executing virtual training.
  • Skilled at prioritizing and managing multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully influence, collaborate and interact effectively within team structure and multiple key stakeholders across organization to align on objectives and provide consistent training direction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Solid professional judgment and ability to work with confidential information is required.
  • Ability to contribute and work successfully in a team environment.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and maintain operational quality.
  • Effectively complete tasks, efficiently and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Strong initiative and ability to multi-task.
  • Proven track record of working cross-functionally and with vendor partners.

The salary range for this position is $220,000 to $235,000USD. Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to; skill set, years of experience, and the employee’s geographic location. Please note that the required compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits unless otherwise provided.

Mirum’s second investigational treatment, volixibat, also an oral IBAT inhibitor, is being evaluated in three potentially registrational studies including the OHANA Phase 2b study for pregnant women with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, VISTAS Phase 2b study for adults with primary sclerosing cholangitis, and the VANTAGE Phase 2b study for primary biliary cholangitis.
