Blue Cross and Blue Shield of MN is hiring a Director of Commercial & Specialty Product Management in Eagan, MN. This leader will optimize and rationalize the Commercial Markets and Specialty Product portfolios by anticipating market demands, formulating strategies, and translating them into high value product solutions. This position is responsible for ensuring our Commercial Markets and Specialty Products are competitive, profitable, innovative and exceptionally supported. To achieve this, this position will partner with P&L Growth teams and internal and external stakeholders to successfully execute product growth strategies. 

 

The ideal candidate should have 7+ years of experience in Commercial Markets and/or Specialty Products in the healthcare industry, along with at least 3 years of leadership experience. This hybrid role involves leading business strategy, managing stakeholder relationships, and driving change initiatives in the healthcare payer industry. 

 

This role is hybrid, 2 days a week in office, out of Eagan, MN.     
  

Your Responsibilities:  

  • Lead the development of Commercial Markets and Specialty Product portfolios by coordinating with cross-functional stakeholders including accountability of product implementation oversight, such as regulatory filings and product documentation. 

  • Monitor key performance metrics to enable strategic data-driven decision-making and identify opportunities to become more efficient in planning and execution, 

  • Lead annual product portfolio rationalization activities and the development of new products, which meet the needs of the market, achieves the business objectives, and can be effectively implemented. 

  • Ensure the Commercial and Specialty product teams and processes support the P&L product strategy and Growth objectives. 

  • Managing vendor relationships, owning the product performance and roadmap, monitoring service level agreements (SLAs), managing escalations, etc. 

  • Develops documents, maintains and improves work process methodologies to achieve maximum efficiency in the product lines. 

  • Create innovative product solutions leveraging both, internal and/or vendor capabilities 

  • Coordinate the timing of product introductions to the market to optimize the value within the sales cycles for each of the distinct market segments. 

  • Monitor product performance and oversee any modifications or enhancements that are needed to improve all product’s competitive positioning. 

  • Facilitate training, communication and focus between appropriate business functions and relevant product line issues. 

 

Required Skills and Experiences: 

 

  • 7+ years of related professional experience, with 3+ years of leadership experience. All relevant experience including work, education, transferable skills, and military experience will be considered. 

  • Experience leading strategic product planning. 

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of health care and public health. 

  • Knowledge of health care system and commitment to health care reform efforts. 

  • Accepting this director level position at BCBSMN requires signing an Employee Confidentiality, Intellectual Property Assignment and Restrictive Covenants Agreement as a condition of employment. 

 

Preferred Skills and Experiences 

 

  • Health plan experience, and/or experience in MN markets 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree 

  • Demonstrated maturity, flexibility and capacity to navigate a complex structure and respond to shifting and fluid priorities. 

  • Experience in effective team management, leadership, conflict resolution, facilitation, consensus-building, managing negotiations, project planning and project management required. 

  • Strong organizational and management skills and attention to detail; ability to manage complex projects and work on tight deadlines. 

  • Proven ability to lead others and build strong relationships.. 

  • Superior interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills to convey complex ideas simply, through written reports and presentation materials, including strong facilitation skills. 

  • Strong leadership skills with the related ability to generate ideas, support and commitment from constituents. 

  • Excellent research, problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work under tight time frames and with complex business and technology issues. 

  • Strong understanding of cross-industry business practices, market, and competitive drivers. 

  • Demonstrates a growth mindset and continuous improvement. 

Role Designation

Hybrid

Role designation definition: Teleworking is working full time remote. Hybrid is a combination of working onsite and remotely.  Onsite is full-time onsite.

Compensation and Benefits

$132,300.00 - $178,600.00 - $224,900.00 Annual

Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including skills, ability, and knowledge the selected individual is bringing to the specific job.
