The primary purpose of the Director of Clinical Revenue, Assisted Living is to provide clinical revenue integrity, staffing and care-margin optimization, technology utilization, and accurate service capture across Assisted Living communities. This role connects resident acuity, documented services, staffing deployment, billing, and financial performance to help ensure communities deliver appropriate care and capture revenue accurately and consistently.

 

The Director serves as a clinical and operational resource, system business owner, trainer, auditor, and coach across the Assisted Living portfolio.

 

This position requires flexibility to travel up to 75% to various Assisted Living locations throughout the United States.  The candidate is preferred to be based out of MN, however we are flexible to those candidates based in FL, SD, OR, AZ, or MT.  

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Monitor and routinely audit resident services, billing, care revenue, labor utilization, and care-margin performance to ensure services are appropriately assessed, documented, delivered, billed, and aligned with resident care needs.
  • Identify revenue leakage, operational inefficiencies, and community outliers, and collaborate with Clinical Services and Operations to improve staffing alignment, revenue capture, and financial performance.
  • Define reporting requirements, validate data accuracy, and translate staffing, service, billing, Medicaid, and financial data into actionable recommendations.
  • Serve as a business owner and subject matter expert for Service Minder functionality, configuration standards, service catalogs, workflows, and revenue-related best practices.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to ALF teams on documentation expectations, service plan accuracy, reimbursement workflows, ancillary revenue capture, and audit readiness.
  • Lead the clinical revenue workstream for acquisitions and new communities, including Service Minder setup, training, workflow design, billing readiness, and post-implementation support.
  • Standardize clinical revenue workflows, tools, reporting, and best practices to improve consistency, accountability, operational efficiency, and financial outcomes across communities.
  • Support annual budgeting, care revenue forecasting, and care-margin planning by providing analysis and recommendations related to resident acuity, staffing models, and service utilization.
  • Monitor applicable Assisted Living Reimbursement, Medicaid, documentation, and regulatory requirements and partner with operational and clinical leaders to implement necessary process changes.
  • Conduct focused community reviews and site visits as needed and provide concise recommendations, action plans, and follow-up to support sustained performance improvement.

 

Knowledge and Critical Skills

  • Able to make independent decisions and follow instructions.
  • Communicate effectively in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, team members, prospects, residents, and families.
  • Knowledge/proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of Assisted Living staffing regulations and requirements, including how staffing models, resident acuity, and service expectations intersect with documentation, compliance, and reimbursement practices.
  • Understanding of clinical documentation standards and how documentation supports appropriate reimbursement and compliance.
  • Strong compliance and audit skills, including the ability to conduct documentation reviews, identify gaps, validate reimbursement accuracy, track corrective actions, and support audit readiness.
  • Excellent communication, training, coaching, and mentoring skills to support clinical Assisted Living teams and promote consistent best practices.
  • Ability to maintain sound judgment, confidentiality, and a resident-centered approach in staffing and revenue recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence across clinical, operational, financial, technical, leadership and community teams. 
  • Care-margin improvement and alignment of staffing with resident needs, delivered services, care revenue, and budget expectations. 
  • Billing-audit accuracy and timeliness; reduction in missed, delayed, duplicated, or unsupported charges. 
  • Service Minder data quality, issue-resolution timeliness, user competency, and adoption of system enhancements. 
  • Reduction in revenue leakage, under-billing, or delayed service-level updates.
  • Completion of corrective actions and measurable improvement following audits, training, and focused community support. Expectation to see ongoing improvement trends.
  • Acquisition and new-community readiness, milestone completion, stable go-live, and post-implementation performance. 

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, Health Information Management, or related field required. Clinical licensure preferred (ideally RN).
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in Assisted Living, senior living, long-term care, reimbursement or revenue integrity, including multi-site responsibility.
  • Experience with senior-living clinical and service-management systems, eMAR platforms
  • Experience with Assisted Living Medicaid programs and state-specific reimbursement or service-documentation requirements.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, system conversions, new community openings, or multi-community performance improvement.
  • Experience with reimbursement, revenue integrity, billing audits, payer or contract requirements, or related healthcare financial processes.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

  • This position does have direct reports or supervisory requirements.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Physical Requirements - The Physical activities of this position involve:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to minimally lift 15 pounds at times
  • Ability to move throughout the office

  • Ability to travel up to 75% to Assisted Living communities and acquisition or implementation sites as business needs require.
