Description:

Accountable for leading, guiding, and directing the Trinity Health regional area functional responsibilities. Enable regional level strategy to address internal or external business & regulatory issues; provide functional expertise and ensure fulfillment of performance and service standards. Responsible for consistent operating performance and achieving financial goals. Identifies, defines & solves complex problems that impact the management & direction of the business; Collaborate with Service Area, Regions, and Health Ministries to ensure consistency and integration of strategy and operations. Maintaining awareness of new industry developments and standards.  Provides decision support, operations &/or optimization leadership focus.

Leadership

  • Providing advice, guidance, and leadership to RHM and Region leaders in developing strategies and in the achievement of performance goals.

  • Providing advice, guidance, and leadership to service area, functional area, RHM, and Regions.

Strategic Support & Accountability

  • Collaborates in system-wide strategy development and deployment of functional area priorities and initiatives
  • Responsible for supporting regional efforts to comply with functional area priorities
  • Accountable for the selection, evaluation, and overall success of the functional leadership teams
  • Organization-wide focal point for establishing functional strategies and governance over financials and staffing
  • Accountable for communication between service area, functional area, RHM, and Regions leader

This position reports and aligns to the VP Trinity Health Clinical Engineering (THCE) to provide functional oversite for national shared services. Supports leaders to achieve goals, priorities, and to enable operational effectiveness.  Accountable for leading, guiding, and directing the Trinity Health national & regional area functional responsibilities.

The National Director is accountable for direct support of the Trinity Health Clinical Engineering (THCE) program strategic direction, leadership, P&L and overseeing the CE shared services program.  Provides leadership in establishing short-term and long-term system priorities in the capital investment of medical equipment.

Supports the sourcing of purchased services and parts to maintain medical equipment, negotiations and management of service agreements, customer satisfaction, medical equipment service strategy, resolution of hazard alerts/recalls, safety, accurate inventory of medical equipment, the assessment of medical equipment to support capital planning, providing technical guidance for the procurement of medical equipment, ensuring the needed controls are in place to protect the medical equipment form cyber-attacks, and the implementation of efficient and effective systems to achieve defined goals.

Provides guidance, interpretation, oversight and accountability for ensuring all programs are compliant with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as with The Joint Commission (TJC) Environment of Care (EOC), Det Norske Veritas (DNV), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the Association of the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI), Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), Homeland Security, and other related standards and regulatory agencies.  Maintain awareness of new industry developments and standards. 

Directly responsible for the operational oversight of the THCE System Software as a Service (SaaS), to include our end-user experience, data capturing needs, data analysis, training of all staff on the use of system with a thorough understanding of the why’s behind the process and data requirements, maintaining all integrations developed between vendor applications and Trinity Health deployed applications.  Work with THCE Finance on ICT data, maintain proper cost allocations to GL accounts, and all ISS&T verticals to create a system approach to data and processes where possible.

Skills Required

  • Leadership experience directing regional or system-level clinical engineering or biomedical engineering programs
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory and accreditation standards (TJC, DNV, NFPA, CAP, AAMI)
  • Experience with medical equipment lifecycle management, inventory, maintenance, and capital planning
  • Vendor and contract labor management, including sourcing, negotiation, and spend optimization
  • Experience overseeing or supporting clinical engineering SaaS systems, integrations, and end-user training
  • Financial oversight experience including P&L, cost allocations, and capital investment decision support
  • Knowledge and implementation of medical device cybersecurity controls and coordinating with ICT/ISS&T
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience measuring and reporting KPIs/metrics and driving operational performance
  • Understanding of hazard alerts/recalls management and safety processes for medical equipment
