Job Description:
The Director of Central Operations leads the Central Operations team. Under general direction from the Vice President of Data Center Operations (DCO), this role will ensure that all operations meet high quality, efficiency, and effectiveness standards. The ideal candidate will manage key performance indicators (KPIs), reporting, and the development of the Central Operations team to support the overall goals of the data center operations organization. The Central Operations team will produce, manage, and improve upon policies and processes to maintain the highest level of data center availability.Responsibilities include technical leadership, collaboration with the Regional Operations team, management and improvement of budgetary responsibilities, training, environmental health and safety, compliance and policy management, and operational and efficiency improvements. The Director of Central Operations will work closely with the VP- DCO and the Directors of Regional Operations in the overall standardization, scalability, and improvement of the operations in the regional data centers.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
Quality Management:
a. Ensure the quality of work the Data Center Operations (DCO) and Central Operations teams perform meets or exceeds industry standards.
b. Develop and implement quality management standards and procedures.
Team Development:
a. Lead the development and growth of the Central Operations team.
b. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
c. Manage the experience of change in a rapidly developing business
KPI Management and Reporting:
a. Assist in defining key performance indicators (KPIs) for DCO Manage and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for DCO.
b. Analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Strategic Planning:
a. Collaborate with the VP of Data Center Operations to develop and execute strategic plans.
b. Align Central Operations initiatives with overall business objectives.
Standard Job Description:
Drive operational excellence within the Central Operations organization.
• Demonstrate strong technical leadership with our employees, interdepartmentally, and with external contacts.
• Personnel management and leadership through motivation.
• Collaborate with direct reports regularly to encourage open communication and cohesive teams.
• Mentor the central operations team on best practices and continual growth and improvement.
• Lead data center standardization initiatives, including consistency of operations in maintenance, record keeping, metrics reporting, operational procedures, equipment labeling, and vendor management.
• Identify and provide education on industry standard safety guidelines and the proper use of personal protective equipment across Flexential data centers.
•Track and manage audit compliance readiness through standardization of maintenance management processes.
Required Qualifications:
• 10+ years in data center operations leadership or a similar field.
• 8+ years people management in an Operations capacity
• Proven experience in a senior operations management role, preferably within the data center or technology industry.
• Strong understanding of quality management principles and KPI management.
• Excellent leadership and team development skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Strong understanding of budget management, financial reporting, and process standardization.
• Expertise in quality management and operational excellence.
• Proficiency in KPI management and performance reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to develop and implement strategic plans.
• Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Operations Staff as well as interdepartmentally.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office program suite.
• Other training and experience may be substituted for the job requirements at the discretion of the manager.
• Excellent people and proactive communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail, making and keeping commitments and meeting deadlines.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time
• Moderate or advanced keyboard usage
• Travel up to 25% of the time
