The Director, Business Development is a senior individual contributor, responsible for originating, developing and closing strategic commercial partnerships with global pharmaceutical companies, CROs and clinical research stakeholders. The role will focus on establishing Javara as a preferred strategic partner by leveraging deep industry relationships, executive-level engagement, and consultative selling expertise. The ideal candidate possesses a proven track record of securing large-scale, multi-year partnerships and influencing clinical trial strategy with top-tier biopharmaceutical organizations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Vice President of Business Development, Chief Commercial Officer and other senior and executive team members to develop a sales strategy and goals to support annual company objectives.
Establish client relationships, analyze industry activity, and develop business plans for sustained growth.
Identify, engage and procure new client relationships that align with therapeutic capabilities and clinical trial interests of healthcare organizations.
Implement initiatives and strategies to achieve quarterly and annual sales and revenue goals.
Effectively manage and maintain client relationships and tracking of key events, data and action items in the company’s CRM.
Contribute to increased company visibility within the industry through speaking opportunities, consortiums, and strategic initiatives that support business development goals and strategies.
Identify, manage and attend industry trade conferences including where appropriate the management of Javara’s presence (e.g. marketing, booth, customer meetings)
Maintain knowledge of Javara capabilities and service offerings to effectively identify prospective clinical trials.
Conduct prospecting activities including outreach via phone, email, etc., to identify prospective trial opportunities and manage engagement to procurement.
Maintain current knowledge of the industry landscape including key strategic biopharma and CRO partnerships, compound development and overall pipeline trends.
Leverage contacts and actively network to engage with key contacts who represent a gateway to trial access and an ability to influence trial placement.
Engage in face-to-face sales activities to secure both clinical trial opportunities and advance strategic relationships with biopharmaceutical companies.
Develop proposals in response to biopharma interest in utilization of Javara’s services whether general or trial specific.
Respond to inbound inquiries regarding Javara services.
Work collaboratively with Javara Site Operations, Feasibility, Medical Director, and other leaders to ensure alignment of sales activities and operational capabilities.
Work collaboratively with Legal, Regulatory, and Finance staff (contracts, budgets, regulatory) and Site Operations to ensure effective transition of trials from procurement to delivery.
Leverage computer and presentation development skills to effectively promote the company’s capabilities, service offerings, and value proposition.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of successful business development, strategic account management, or commercial leadership experience within clinical research, CRO, site networks or clinical trial services organizations.
Proven track record of securing and growing enterprise-level relationships resulting in contracts, preferred provider agreements, or strategic partnerships valued at $20M+
Established network of executive-level relationships across major pharmaceutical organizations.
Experience selling within CROs, site networks, patient recruitment organizations, clinical technology providers, or related clinical trial service providers.
Demonstrated ability to navigate complex buying environments involving multiple stakeholders, procurement processes, and executive decision-makers.
Experience negotiating enterprise agreements, strategic alliances, preferred provider relationships, and multi-study partnerships.
Deep understanding of site operations, patient recruitment, decentralized clinical trials, healthcare-integrated research models, and sponsor outsourcing strategies.

This position may be remote or in person in Winston-Salem, NC. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

Travel: This position involves up to 50% travel to conferences as well as applicable visits to Javara headquarters in Winston Salem, NC.
