The Problems You’ll Solve

As the Director of Business Development, Private Equity Partners you will lead, mentor, and scale our team of Business Development Managers  empowering them to deepen relationships with key selling and channel partners, expand our industry footprint, and drive Private Equity and Private Credit fund penetration.

You’ll be responsible for defining and executing the strategic vision for Carta’s engagement with the private funds ecosystem, ensuring your team is maximizing distribution, driving revenue growth, and building scalable, high-impact partner programs across law firms, audit/accounting firms, consultants, placement agents, compliance organizations, industry groups, investment platforms, wealth managers, and other industry stakeholders.

The Team You’ll Work With

You’ll lead the Private Equity & Credit Partnerships business development team—a group entrusted to grow Carta’s network and expand market share. You’ll be expected to cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, and results-driven team culture, ensuring Carta is at the forefront of industry partnership innovation and growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing team of Business Development Managers focused on expanding Carta’s presence within private equity and private credit. Set clear goals, provide consistent coaching, and oversee ongoing performance management and professional growth.
  • Define and operationalize partner motions (Influencer, Referral, Co-sell, and Resell) with clear entry criteria, ROE, and success metrics.
  •  Play a key role in driving growth through our selling partner ecosystem. You’ll be responsible for identifying, recruiting, and enabling new and existing partners—including resellers, distributors, and channel partners—to expand our market reach, accelerate sales, and deliver added value to our customers.
  • Own the partner business plan by segment (PE, fund admins, law/audit/tax, tech alliances, including OKRs and growth targets
  • Integrate partner performance into sales territory and account plans. Hit quarterly goals for sourced + influenced pipeline/ARR; enforce deal reg and attach discipline.
  • Run partner pipeline inspection and forecast reviews with RevOps; report win-rate and cycle-time deltas for partner-attached deals.
  • Design and implement team strategies to deepen existing selling and channel partner relationships and forge new ones across the investment management ecosystem, ensuring that Carta is seen as the go-to platform for fund administration products (fund formation, SPVs, valuations, KYC/AML, portfolio insights, etc.).
  • Ensure Carta is continuously represented as a thought leader in the private funds ecosystem, leading your team in representing the company at industry events, conferences, and strategic meetings (up to 25% travel).
  • Guide your team in working cross-functionally with Product, Delivery, Engineering, Implementations, Support, Sales, and Marketing. Serve as the executive liaison to senior internal stakeholders, collecting partner feedback and driving company-wide strategies to advance Carta’s mutual interests with preferred partners.
About You
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership in enterprise business development, channel/alliances, or go-to-market roles, ideally in private equity, venture capital, fund administration, fintech, or financial services.
  • In-depth knowledge of private funds operations, partner ecosystems, fund formation, regulatory frameworks, fundraising, and/or valuation services.
  • You are a strategic, hands-on leader with a proven history of building, managing, and scaling high-performing business development teams within the private funds, fintech, or investment management ecosystems.
  • Proven launch of tiered programs and PRM/CRM workflows (deal reg, attribution, account mapping)
  • You have deep experience developing market strategies, forging senior partner relationships, and influencing at the executive level, balancing tactical coaching with visionary leadership.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership with Sales, PMM/Marketing, GTM Ops, Legal/InfoSec, Strategic Finance. 
  • You possess strong management, networking, negotiation, and communication skills; you are comfortable engaging C-level leaders internally and externally, and leading teams in complex, matrixed environments.
  • Experience attending and speaking at industry events, with an established network within the private equity, private credit, or related partner ecosystem.
Salary

Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our expected cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) range for this role starts at:

  • $223,500 - $340,00 OTE in New York
