Job Description

Goal: Provide leadership to develop technology strategies that support business goals.  This role will have impact and influence over more than one technology and/or business domain, advancing a next generation of automation, intelligence and AI-ready operations built on a strong data practice across AbbVie's Corporate Functions: Legal, the Office of Ethics and Compliance, and Corporate Affairs.  

Objectives: Build a collaborative partnership with technology and functional domain senior leadership, acting as a business-facing, techno-functional and consultative advisor.  Develop and guide delivery of comprehensive technology solutions that address prioritized business problems and innovation needs, maturing data, measurement and automation capabilities that make operations AI-ready.  Objectives are defined in collaboration with senior domain leadership and results assess from a 2-3 year perspective.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategy & Influence: Work across multiple businesses and technology to make significant contributions to development of a 2-3 year strategy. Develop, adapt, and execute strategies to achieve key objectives.
  • Process Improvement & Optimization: Make significant contributions to identifying overall process and/or technology improvements.
  • People Management: Responsible for managing a team(s) of senior managers and directors within multiple business and/or technology domains.
  • Impact: Make decisions that have an effect on financial, employee and/or public relations posture of AbbVie.
  • Resource Management: Responsible for making significant contributions to the development of resource management strategy and organizational structure of multiple business and/or technology domain.
  • Liaison & Relationship Building: Build collaborative relationships and effectively interact frequently with business and/or technology senior leadership and vice presidents. Interactions focus on top priority projects and influencing strategic decisions. Interact well with diverse groups across business and technology functions and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
  • Culture: Consistently demonstrate AbbVie’s Ways of Working and Leadership Attributes including an enterprise mindset and people leadership. Effectively manage performance, provide timely feedback, appropriately reward and recognize valuable achievement, develop talent, and create a succession pipeline. Understand and execute AbbVie's vision, goals, and strategies. This role has accountability for the performance and results strategically important functions.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and 12+ years of experience. 
  • Effectively connect employee and BTS functional goals to business and/or overall AbbVie goals. 
  • Proven ability to drive outstanding employee performance and engagement through developing, coaching, motivating, energizing, and inspiring team members. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technology into clear business value for senior, non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Experience managing teams of at least 15 people with a resource mix of managers, employees, matrixed teams, virtual teams, contractors, and managed service providers. 
  • Ability to communicate problems in terms that are understandable to all levels of the organization, including C-Suite. 
  • Thought leader within multiple technology and/or business domains, with a techno-functional and consultative approach to solving business problems. 
  • Experience managing a budget of at least $15 million. 

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree and work experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred. 
  • Experience in technology operation, strategy, planning and implementation and/or relevant business domain preferred, including data strategy and enablement, analytics and measurement, intelligent automation and AI-enabled operations, digital product and web platform management, and enterprise operations and workflow systems.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.   • This job is eligible to participate in our long-term incentive programs.
