The Role
At Chewy, we strive to become the most trusted and convenient online destination for pet parents and our partners - vets and service providers - alike! We are seeking an experienced and creative attorney to join our rapidly growing animal health legal team. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with veterinarians, veterinary care teams, internal business and technology stakeholders, and compliance teams to support our veterinary service businesses. This position will provide end-to-end support for Chewy Vet Care (Chewy's multijurisdictional veterinary clinics offering extensive pet medical services, from routine checkups to urgent care), Connect with a Vet (Chewy's premier telehealth service), Rhapsody (veterinary clinic practice information management software) and other veterinary services and offerings. This is a permanent, full-time, hybrid in-office role in our Bellevue, WA or Plantation, FL offices, reporting directly to the Vice President for Chewy Health Legal.
What You'll Do:
  • Serve as the lead lawyer for the veterinary businesses, advising senior executives on Chewy Health's top strategic initiatives.
  • Provide legal and operational support for the day-to-day management of clinics and Telehealth services.
  • Partner with the business to develop and launch technology, SaaS and related services.

  • Draft customer-facing online and offline consent forms, agreements, terms, and other documents.
  • Collaborate closely with veterinary compliance team and veterinary leadership to identify, interpret, and apply applicable legal and regulatory requirements (including those governing healthcare delivery, licensure and telehealth) and determine their implications for the business and operations teams.
  • Provide oversight for a broad range of commercial dealings, including supplier negotiations, site leases, and other key partnerships that support business operations

What You'll Need:
  • JD and 12+ years of practice experience, with most of that time spent at major law firms or large companies, demonstrating continual growth and the ability to succeed in those environments.
  • Active member in good standing with one US state bar and the ability to become licensed in FL or WA as in-house counsel.
  • Substantial experience as the primary lawyer to a business line providing broad support across transactional consumer regulatory issues.
  • Proven experience advising senior corporate leaders and operating as a trusted business partner.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector (veterinary, human health, or adjacent regulated care delivery environments
  • Experience specifically in the veterinary space is a strong plus.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to advise on business-related legal issues and understand business consequences of legal advice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, sound business judgment, and the ability to prioritize multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience successfully managing other attorneys or legal professionals.
  • Ability to accommodate working with East Coast time zones and occasional travel.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry or with regulated products.
  • Familiarity with prescription drug laws is plus.
