Flux Computing designs and manufactures optical processors to train and run inference on large AI models. Join us to be part of a highly motivated and skilled team that thrives on delivering impact and innovation at speed.
The Role
We’re searching for a Director of Hardware - ASICs to own the technical, schedule and organisational delivery of multiple ASICs within OTPU. You will line‑manage the Analog ASIC Lead and Digital ASIC Lead (each with their own teams) and act as the single point of accountability for silicon execution. Success demands a rare blend of hands‑on technical depth, proven people leadership and disciplined program management—all exercised across multiple concurrent tape‑outs.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain the ASIC master schedule—including IP development, verification, physical implementation, package co‑design, MPW/test‑chip shuttles, qualification and production ramps. Drive weekly cross‑functional reviews and executive read‑outs.
Directly manage and mentor the Analog and Digital ASIC Leads (and, via them, ~25 + engineers). Set goals, hire strategically, grow technical leaders and foster a culture of first‑pass silicon success.
Provide architectural guidance and critical design‑review sign‑off for blocks running from > 20 GHz analog bandwidth to > 100 MHz digital core clocks. Resolve spec splits, timing closures, power budgets and mixed‑signal interactions.
Act as primary interface to foundry and IP vendors: negotiate PDK access, mask slots, MPW shuttles, wafer starts, corner‑split strategies and yield‑learning plans.
Own silicon CAPEX/OPEX budgets, mask and backend costs, and risk registers. Drive make/buy decisions for IP, EDA, test hardware and probe cards.
Skills & Experience
15 + years in semiconductor development, with 3 + complex ASICs driven from concept through ramp‑to‑production at ≤ 22 nm.
Demonstrated track record managing managers and multi‑disciplinary teams (analog/RF, digital, verification, physical design, test).
Deep understanding of high‑speed mixed‑signal design challenges—multi‑lane SerDes, fast‑settling DACs/ADCs, sub‑picosecond clocking, advanced power‑delivery and packaging.
Proven success negotiating foundry schedules, MPW slots, mask‑set revisions and yield‑improvement plans with Tier‑1 fabs (TSMC, Samsung, GF, UMC, etc.).
Compensation & Benefits
$247,000 – $301,000 + annual salary, depending on experience, skills, and location.
Competitive stock options, you’re not just part of the journey, you will own a piece of it.

Once the group policy is live, Flux will cover 100% of the employee premium, and offer options like dental, vision and life insurance with an aim to remain competitive among Austin tech and start up employers.
We offer US employees access to a 401(k) retirement savings plan and we plan to introduce an employer match in line with Austin tech market norms (commonly in the 4-5% range). Our goal is to keep our retirement benefits competitive while we scale.
