POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Behavior Analytic Services will lead the quality implementation of behavior analytic services for the organization, including clinic, home, and community-based behavior analytic supports and services. In collaboration with Executive leadership, the Director is responsible for daily service operations, coordination and expansion of program services, as well as ensuring compliance with government and Kelberman specific regulations and operating standards. The Director will complete all required records and reports, coordinate with all relevant Kelberman programs and departments, as well as external regulatory bodies and commercial insurance companies in order to ensure timely access to assessment and treatment for persons seeking or receiving behavior analytic services. The Director ensures fiscal responsibility of behavior analytic services, ongoing staff professional development, and the provision of quality clinical services that align with best-practice guidelines that are in adherence to the overall policies of Kelberman. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:   

  • Manage the daily operations of applied behavior analysis (ABA) services provided in the clinic, home, and community -based settings to include staff scheduling and coverage, budget monitoring, staff orientation and staff meetings.
  • Develop, maintain and ensure compliance with program operating manuals and resources that align with NYS laws and regulations.
  • In collaboration with Executive Leadership, ensure ABA program operates in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Develop clinical templates in the EHR that align with NYS regulation and insurance company requirements. 
  • In collaboration with Administrative and Finance staff, ensure provider credentialing with all insurance companies is maintained. 
  • Provide clinical and professional supervision to assigned LBAs/BCBAs.
  • Provide clinical and professional supervision to Behavior Technicians/Registered Behavior Technicians.
  • Oversee and lead new hire and ongoing training for technicians and LBAs based on best practices and ensure that certifications/licensures are current.
  • Function as BCBA/LBA within the program and perform essential duties associated with that position.
  • As needed, function as technician and perform essential duties associated with that position to avoid disruptions in care.
  • Conduct comprehensive client assessments to identify behavioral challenges and skill deficits to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Implement evidence-based interventions using ABA techniques to promote positive behavior change.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans, adjusting as necessary based on data collected to ensure meaningful client outcomes.
  • Collaborate and provide training with families, caregivers, and other professionals. 
  • Maintain accurate client documentation and records.
  • Complete reports for insurance companies, schools, families and/or other key stakeholders.
  • Lead and participate in clinical, program, and agency meetings. 
  • Conduct and/or assist with internal audits to ensure program, provider, and staff compliance with local, state, and agency rules, regulations and laws.
  • Maintains professionalism, confidentiality and privacy requirements as required by Kelberman and regulatory bodies.

  • Proficiency in maintaining medical documentation and maintaining client records.

  • Intermediate Computer Skills (Including Windows, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Word, Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • This position has regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services and is required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under OPWDD (Office for People with Developmental Disabilities) and/or OCFS (Office of Child and Family Services).
  • Travel is required. Must have or be willing to obtain a valid New York State Driver’s License and have reliable transportation.

Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE  

  • Master’s Degree in Behavior Analysis Psychology, Special Education or related field.  Doctorate degree preferred.
  • 7 Years relevant experience in behavior analysis or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible management experience in the field of autism, developmental disabilities, education, healthcare or mental health services. 
  • 1 – 2 years of insurance-based experience.
  • Certification as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Completed Supervisor Training Coursework as outlined by BACB and remains current with CEUs.
  • Licensed as Behavior Analyst in NY State.

An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Job related tasks may involve possible exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue or spills or splashes from these substances. May have exposure to unpredictable individuals and situations when working at Kelberman sites.
  • OSHA exposure category l.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and sit. Must be able remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.  
  • Must be able to bend, twist, reach.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
