Job Summary:

The Director of Alumni Engagement provides strategic leadership and day-to-day management for a comprehensive alumni engagement program at Saint Peter’s University. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving, the Director is responsible for designing, implementing, and assessing programs and initiatives that foster meaningful, lifelong relationships between alumni and the University.

This role leads the execution of alumni engagement strategy across programs, events, communications, volunteer leadership, and affinity-based engagement. The Director collaborates closely with colleagues across Institutional Advancement and campus partners to ensure alumni engagement efforts are aligned with institutional goals, support fundraising and stewardship priorities, and reflect the Jesuit mission and
values of Saint Peter’s University.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Alumni Engagement Strategy and Program Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive alumni engagement strategy that supports institutional priorities and advances participation, affinity, and volunteer involvement.

  • Translate strategic goals set by the Assistant Vice President into actionable programs, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Establish measurable goals, benchmarks, and key performance indicators to assess alumni engagement efforts and inform continuous improvement.

  • Use data and analytics to evaluate program effectiveness, identify trends, and guide strategic decision-making.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President for Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving.

Alumni Programs and Signature Events

  • Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of a diverse portfolio of alumni programs and events that engage alumni across class years, geographies, and identities.

  • Manage signature alumni events including, but not limited to, Homecoming, Reunion celebrations, Saint Peter Day alumni activities, and regional or virtual alumni programs.

  • Ensure alumni events and programs are inclusive, mission-aligned, and reflective of Saint Peter’s traditions and values.

  • Partner with campus colleagues such as to integrate alumni engagement into institutional events and initiatives. Campus colleagues include but are not limited to Athletics, Admissions, Student Affairs and more.

Alumni Communications and Engagement Channels

  • Oversee the development and execution of a coordinated alumni communications plan, including email campaigns, digital content, social media collaboration, website updates, and alumni publications.

  • Ensure consistency of messaging, branding, and tone across all alumni-facing communications.

  • Collaborate with Communications and Marketing to strengthen alumni storytelling, engagement messaging, and institutional visibility.

  • Support engagement initiatives that connect alumni to students through mentorship, career networking, and experiential learning opportunities.

Volunteer Leadership and Affinity Engagement

  • Serve as staff lead for alumni volunteers, committees, and affinity groups, in collaboration with the Alumni Board and Advancement colleagues.

  • Develop and manage volunteer engagement frameworks that provide meaningful leadership opportunities for alumni.

  • Support the growth and sustainability of alumni affinity groups, including cultural, academic, athletic, and identity-based communities.

  • Provide staff support, guidance, and infrastructure to ensure volunteer success and alignment with University priorities.

Data, Systems, and Administration

  • Collaborate with Advancement staff to ensure accurate tracking, coding, and reporting of alumni participation, engagement, and volunteer involvement in Raiser’s Edge or other CRM systems. 

  • Identify data gaps and contribute to the development of improved alumni data practices, including student organization and affinity participation tracking.

  • Manage alumni engagement budgets, vendors, and resources responsibly and in alignment with divisional goals.

  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, data integrity standards, and best practices in
    alumni engagement.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000

Qualifications

Qualification Standards:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in alumni engagement, advancement, development, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing complex alumni programs and events.

  • Strong project management, organizational, and strategic planning skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with alumni, volunteers, campus partners, and senior leadership.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM systems such as Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge NXT.

Skills Required
