As a Director of the AI software engineering group, you will lead the delivery of AI capabilities and applications from internal development teams and third parties. This role is heavily focused on executing and delivering AI software solutions on time, within budget and scope, and to the required quality standards. This role bridges partner execution, strategy, business needs, data science and operations to move AI solutions from concept to production.
You’ll partner with product managers, AI software engineers, and security teams to ship reliable, compliant solutions while building a strong development culture. Job Description

This role requires an expert-level grasp of trade-offs involving delivery of Agentic AI solutions on Cloud infrastructure.  You will develop and manage high-performing engineers and organize a large group of contractors to deliver on scope, quality and time.

You will manage a growing group of full-time employees and contractors focused on delivery.  You will be responsible for researching and rolling out the latest technologies and methodologies adopted from industry-wide practices to deliver software using AI techniques. 

Provide day-to-day work direction for team members engaged in projects and delivery.

You will actively present leadership updates to GE Vernova executives and internal customers.
 

You’ll work with others to define future technology rollout and architecture for products and services.

Quickly learn, internalize and develop a strong understanding of key priorities and how to map them to execution plans.
 

You’ll be expected to align with stakeholders to ensure that data and process changes required in systems are implemented in accordance with project objectives and timelines.

Facilitate and coach software engineering teams on requirements estimation and work sizing.

Drive a continuous learning culture to help guide continuous improvements.

Provide leadership on Lean/Agile principles and development practices.

Utilize tools to track progress, identify key risk areas for specific implementations, and assist in resolving conflicting priorities through proactive communication with stakeholders about requirements and timelines.

Operate as an engaged AI leader who serves as a subject matter expert and technical expert for assigned programs and development initiatives.
 

Work with system leaders and functional teams to ensure products and services adhere to compliance and controllership standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics), with significant experience.
  • 15 years of experience in software engineering, with 8 years in a technical engineering, systems architecture, or principal-level role.
  • 5+ years of experience leading and managing software engineering organizations.
  • Cloud SaaS delivery experience
  • Experience delivering commercial software products.
  • Experience shipping AI applications with cost management.

Education Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics), with significant experience.

Preferred Characteristics

  • Experience managing other engineering managers.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and collaborate with senior executive stakeholders (VPs, Directors) across multiple distinct business units.
  • Proven track record of leading large, complex, cross-functional engineering organizations with large groups of contractors in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience deploying RAG pipelines in production environments.
  • Strong systems-level thinking in decision-making and problem-solving.
  • Experience working in global organizations.
  • Experience with serverless technologies; including AWS AgentCore and Langchain.
  • Experience working with AWS services and cloud platforms.
