The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Director of AI/ ML, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Serve as the functional manager for a multidisciplinary AI team, including AI engineers, AI architects, and data engineers

• Broad ownership of all aspects of people leadership including hiring, career development, technical skill development and mentorship

• Partner with stakeholders across corporate function and business units to” identify high value AI use cases, translate business needs into AI solutions and prioritize initiatives based on impact and feasibility

• Lead teams through the end-to-end AI lifecycle including problem framing, solution design, development, deployment and ongoing improvement

• Ensure AI solutions are scalable, reliable, explainable, aligned with responsible AI principles and follow good MLOps practices

• Define success metrics and KPIs for AI initiatives; measure, communicate, and continuously improve the business value and ROI of AI projects

• Coordinate across engineering, product, IT, security, legal and compliance teams to deliver AI solutions effectively.

• Communicate clearly and confidently with senior and executive stakeholders translating technical concepts into business outcomes

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, Solventum requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science or a related technical field AND 10 years of job related experience OR High School Diploma/GED from AND 16 years of the same job-related experience 

In addition to the above requirements, the following are also required:

• 8+ years of experience working in AI/ML roles, with track record of delivering production AI solutions

• 3+ years of experience managing and developing technical teams

• Professional proficiency in English required, with regular collaboration across global teams.

• Strong foundation in traditional AI and machine learning techniques, such as deep learning, decision trees, random forests, optimization techniques and statistical modeling

• Hands on experience with modern AI approaches, including large language models (LLMs) and transformer architectures, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, Agentic AI and autonomous or semi- autonomous AI architectures

• Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop diverse technical teams

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s or PhD) in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related field.

• History of launching multiple AI products/programs in parallel, particularly in global or regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, medtech).

• Experience leading multi-disciplinary AI research and development teams that innovate at the forefront of the field.

• Familiarity with cloud-native AI/ML platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) and the ability to evaluate and integrate external AI technologies or vendors.

• Success in driving end-to-end process improvements and operational excellence across complex programs.

Work location: Remote

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international.

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status.
