Job Description

The Director, Agile Procurement & Transformation Categories, is a dynamic and varied role and a member of the global procurement senior leadership team.  Reporting directly to the Chief Procurement Officer this role is tasked with leading high impact strategic transformation projects across the procurement organization as well as leading a key category team (Freight, Logistics & MRO).  In addition to and alongside strategic projects this role will layout a framework and begin implementation of Agile methodology across the global procurement organization. This role blends transformation, change and category management into one and is accountable for enabling enterprise value through strong partnership with Category and Sourcing Managers, driving execution of category strategies, supplier optimization, and operational excellence.  Through alignment with broader Agilent executive leaders/initiatives across Operations, Transformation and Finance, the role will also add significant value in the delivery of strategic transformation work across procurement. 

This position is a hands-on leadership role with a category management team, focused on supporting, enabling, and accelerating delivery of sourcing initiatives, while ensuring alignment to enterprise priorities, governance, and financial targets.

In addition to the Agile framework this role leads the development and execution of global sourcing strategies across Freight, Logistics and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) categories. This role is accountable for enabling enterprise value through strong partnership with Category Managers and Sourcing Managers, driving execution of category strategies, supplier optimization, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Category Enablement & Execution

- Lead initial Agile strategic project across the global organization while supporting the development of an Agile mindset with the Procurement organization. 

- Establish Agile roadmap, program ideation, and business case/ROI for future Agile programing. 

- Support Freight & Logistics and MRO Category Managers in developing and executing multi-year sourcing strategies aligned to business and operational priorities

- Translate stakeholder needs into executable sourcing plans, including RFPs, negotiations, renewals, and supplier transitions

- Ensure consistent execution of sourcing strategies across regions through structured governance, tools, and best practices

- Drive speed, rigor, and discipline in sourcing execution—ensuring timely delivery of committed outcomes

Sourcing Team Support & Capability Development

- Directly support and enable Strategic Sourcing Managers and Category Managers in executing high-impact initiatives

- Provide coaching, escalation support, and hands-on leadership in complex Agile programs, sourcing events and negotiations

- Reinforce consistent application of sourcing processes, stage gate discipline, and commercial frameworks

- Build team capability in areas such as the Agile mindset, supplier negotiations, cost modeling, and risk management

Supplier & Commercial Management

- Partner with teams to identify, evaluate, and manage key suppliers to ensure service reliability, cost competitiveness, and performance improvement

- Support negotiation strategies and contract development

- Drive supplier performance management, including scorecards, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives

- Mitigate risks through proactive supplier strategies and contingency planning

Stakeholder & Executive Partnership

- Partner closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and site-level stakeholders to align sourcing strategies with business needs

- Enable Category Managers to effectively engage stakeholders with data-driven insights and clear trade-offs

- Ensure sourcing decisions align with enterprise standards across Legal, Compliance, and Finance

-Provide key insights to senior management on sourcing strategies and assurance of supply decisions

Financial & Performance Accountability

- Support delivery of measurable outcomes including cost savings, cost avoidance, service improvements, and risk mitigation

- Drive visibility to sourcing pipelines, execution progress, and realized value

- Ensure sourcing initiatives support budget predictability and operational scalability

Operational Excellence & Governance

- Enforce consistent use of sourcing processes, tools, and governance frameworks

- Provide structure and oversight to ensure stage gate compliance and execution discipline

- Establish reporting and analytics to track sourcing performance, supplier metrics, and value delivery

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field; MBA or professional certification preferred

- 8+ years of progressive experience in indirect sourcing, logistics, supply chain, or MRO categories, including global scope

- Demonstrated success supporting and executing large-scale sourcing initiatives and supplier negotiations

- Experience leading Agile programing and strategy, including continuous improvement, lean six sigma, and value engineering. 

- Strong commercial acumen, with ability to drive value through cost modeling and contract strategy

- Proven ability to coach and enable Category Managers and Sourcing Managers

- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills

- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, global, and highly matrixed environment

Additional Details

The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $143,760.00 - $269,550.00/yr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
