Director of Accounting Operations

AireSpring is seeking a hands-on, results-oriented Director of Accounting Operations to lead the transformation of our accounting processes, systems, and close cadence. This position will play a central role in elevating the Company’s accounting function to a scalable, audit-ready environment. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Director will oversee the monthly close, ensure GAAP compliance, and drive continuous process and control improvements across the organization. While the role does not initially have direct reports, the Director will serve as the functional leader of accounting operations, coordinating closely with U.S.-based employees and overseas contractors, and focusing on building a best-in-class, high-quality accounting organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the monthly accounting close process to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Oversee all aspects of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and consolidations.
  • Partner with the offshore Controller and accounting team to strengthen close processes, documentation standards, and internal controls.
  • Develop and implement scalable policies, procedures, and checklists to support a disciplined monthly “hard close” environment.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, ensuring all schedules, memos, and supporting documentation are prepared accurately and on time.
  • Support the Chief Accounting Officer with financial reporting, audit coordination, lender covenant reporting and compliance, and strategic review activities.
  • Research and document technical accounting conclusions on complex transactions.
  • Evaluate and implement process automation, system enhancements, and workflow tools to improve accounting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Serve as a mentor and process leader to the offshore accounting team, establishing quality standards and accountability measures.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required, MBA preferred.
    • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience including leadership in a multi-entity or high-growth environment.
    • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.
    • Proven success leading accounting process improvements, system implementations, or close accelerations.
    • Experience managing both U.S.-based employees and overseas contractors strongly preferred.
    • Background in lender covenant reporting or compliance preferred.
    • Highly analytical and detail-oriented with strong communication and organizational skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities.

    Success Indicators

    • Reduction in close cycle time and improved accuracy of monthly financials.
    • Documented and sustainable accounting policies, procedures, and reconciliations.
    • Increased audit readiness and clean auditor feedback.
    • Strong alignment between U.S. and overseas accounting workflows.
    • Clear roadmap for maintaining a best-in-class accounting organization.
