Osmind is a technology, services, and data company focused exclusively on psychiatry. We serve 800+ independent psychiatry practices across 49 states with a purpose-built EHR, software solutions, and managed services. We're a San Francisco–based Series B Public Benefit Corporation backed by DFJ Growth, Future Ventures, General Catalyst, and Y Combinator.
We're growing rapidly and are launching a brand new platform. This is a rare opportunity to shape its technical foundation while making a significant impact on patients, clinicians, and researchers.
We're looking for a hands-on, independent accounting leader to own our accounting function end to end as we bring it in-house. This is a builder's role, not a caretaker's. You will run a clean, timely close across three entities, lead our move onto a true multi-entity platform, and act as a real partner to our VP Finance and leadership team. You will move comfortably between the detail (a reconciliation, a mapping fix) and the big picture (GAAP-compliant, board-ready financials), and you will bring recommendations rather than wait to be asked. We're AI-forward and want someone willing to experiment with AI tools to streamline the function as we build it.
You will work closely with the VP Finance, and will help shape the processes, systems, and eventual team of our accounting organization as it matures from outsourced to in-house.
- Close and reporting: Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close across the general ledger, AP, AR, and payroll for all 3 entities, delivering accurate, GAAP-compliant financials on a consistent timeline.
- Multi-entity ownership: Manage intercompany transactions, allocations, and entity-level reporting across Osmind's MSO structure, ensuring each entity's books roll up cleanly to the parent.
- Technical accounting: Serve as our technical accounting resource, researching and documenting positions on the areas most relevant to us — including revenue recognition (ASC 606) across our software, RCM billing revenue streams and Pharma projects
- Outsourced accounting transition: Own the transition off our current outsourced accounting provider (Pilot) — extracting institutional knowledge, closing documentation gaps, and ensuring no continuity issues during the handoff.
- Controls and process: Design and document internal controls, accounting policies, and repeatable procedures that fit a fast-growing, multi-entity company.
- Cash and AP/AR oversight: Own day-to-day cash visibility and AP/AR processes across all entities.
- Finance business partnering: Support VP Finance and leadership with clean, consistent financials, and act as the go-to resource for accounting questions across the company.
- Systems and automation: Lead our migration from QuickBooks Online (Premium) to a true multi-entity platform, redesign the chart of accounts for multi-entity reporting, and bring in AI-enabled tools and automation to make the function faster and more reliable.
- Team building: As Osmind grows, hire, train, and manage additional offshore-based accounting staff.
- 8–12 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 3 years at a Controller or Accounting Manager level.
- Direct, hands-on experience working with or for a US-based company — not solely BPO-style transactional support for a domestic client base. This is a hard requirement, not a preference.
- CPA or equivalent recognized certification.
- Strong command of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls, with real fluency in multi-entity and intercompany accounting.
- Demonstrated experience setting up or standing up an accounting function — Controller-level ownership, not just execution.
- A true "player-coach": comfortable being both the hands-on preparer today and the manager who hires and trains a team tomorrow.
- Deep QuickBooks Online expertise, including direct experience leading a platform or tier transition. Experience with NetSuite or another enterprise-scale ERP is strongly preferred and will directly inform our platform decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate accounting concepts clearly for non-finance stakeholders and proactively flag issues before being asked.
- Comfort working as an independent contributor now, with a clear path to managing a small team as it's built out.
- Big 4 or equivalent top-tier public accounting/audit firm background — the preferred profile for this role.
- Healthcare or healthcare technology industry experience.
- Familiarity with MSO (Management Services Organization) structures specifically.
- Experience with AI-enabled finance/accounting workflows or automation tools.
- Track record of scaling an accounting function during a high-growth period.
- Full-time, direct hire
- Target start: as soon as possible; we're aiming to have this role filled by September 30, 2026.
- This is a strong fit if you like to build: you'll be setting up the systems and controls as you go, and you'll own the whole accounting function — not just one slice of it.
- It may not be the right fit if you want a team on day one or a finished playbook to inherit: early on, this is a hands-on, largely solo role. You'll be doing the close yourself before you're hiring anyone to help.
