Job Overview

The Director of 59th Street Flagship Transformation will lead the continued multi-year transformation of Bloomingdale’s iconic NYC flagship, with the ambition to strengthen 59th Street’s position as a world-class luxury destination and defining expression of the Bloomingdale’s brand. This highly visible role owns the integrated transformation roadmap and the rigorous project management required to deliver it.

The Director will drive the detailed execution of the transformation across workstreams, partnering with senior leaders and functional owners to ensure all elements come together with discipline, pace, and exceptional execution. The role requires the ability to maintain a clear view of the total flagship vision and intended outcomes while staying deeply engaged in the details by connecting workstreams, anticipating risks and dependencies, driving timely decisions and accountability, and ensuring commitments are delivered. The Director will identify and surface gaps where plans may not fully support the broader transformation vision and drive resolution with the appropriate sponsors and functional leaders.

The Director will report to the Senior Director, Store & Portfolio Strategy, with a dotted line to the VP, Regional Director of Stores, New York City, and partner closely with Executive Committee sponsors and senior leaders across the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Own the integrated multi-year roadmap and project plan for the transformation of the total 59th Street flagship, turning the transformation vision and priorities into a clear plan with workstreams, milestones, owners, dependencies and deliverables. Ensure major renovation phases, smaller capital investments, and broader business initiatives all advance the flagship toward that vision.
  • Maintain a detailed command of the project across all workstreams, including milestones, dependencies, decisions, risks, owners and deadlines. Drive follow-through, resolve issues and escalate quickly when needed to maintain pace, quality and accountability.
  • Establish and lead the project governance and operating cadence required to connect workstreams, drive accountability, surface issues and decisions, and ensure critical details and commitments do not fall through the cracks.
  • Stay deeply engaged in the physical renovation, phasing, and other capital projects across the flagship, partnering closely with Store Environment/Construction, Store & Portfolio Strategy, Operations, Merchandising and Store Leadership to connect capital execution with the broader transformation and needs of the operating business.
  • Drive the integration and execution of cross-functional plans required for each phase of the transformation, partnering with leaders across customer, brand, service, talent, marketing, events, digital and store operations to ensure readiness, clear deliverables, and measures of success.
  • Maintain a holistic view across all workstreams, identifying and surfacing gaps or areas where plans may not fully support the broader transformation vision, and drive resolution with the appropriate sponsors and functional leaders.
  • Anticipate risks and dependencies, proactively solve problems, and drive timely decisions across internal and external stakeholders. Identify issues and changes early, understand their downstream implications and drive the actions needed to keep the transformation on track.
  • Partner with Finance and functional leaders to establish and track the financial, customer, and brand outcomes for each phase, identify performance gaps and drive actions to deliver the expected return on the investment.
  • Serve as a key source of truth for the transformation, owning clear and consistent communication of the vision, progress, phasing, risks and key decisions across the organization and synthesizing complex information into clear updates for senior leadership and Executive Committee sponsors.
  • This role is primarily based at 59th Street, with a strong on-site presence and close connection to execution on the floor; however, the role has no direct store operating or coverage responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
