POSITION OVERVIEW

The Dimming Product Owner leads the translation of Product Management strategy to the engineering execution for dimming products and features in prototype, pre-launch, and launch environments. 

The area of focus includes automotive applications for the next generations of established dimming products, such as Inside/Outside electrochromic mirrors and all new product platforms, such as dimming visors and large area glazings.

There are a wide array of other disciplines this role must effectively interact with: R&D, electrical engineering (software & hardware), mechanical engineering, program management, UI/UX design, manufacturing operations, and more.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Design and develop product families per the product strategy and roadmap. 
  • Support the development of Product Line strategies, roadmaps and presentation material. 
  • Research and support new technology assimilation opportunities.
  • Research and experiment as needed, to become a subject matter expert in your product or technology area. 
  • Maintain baseline test procedures for validation and quality assurance of finished components and products. 
  • Develop and refine specifications and requirements for product functionality and performance metrics. 
  • Support development of prototype Proof of Concept (POC) systems for trade shows and customers. 
  • Attend trade shows and build relationships within your Product support teams. 
  • Prior to hand-off to Launch Teams, make best efforts ensure new designs utilize parts, methods, and practices, are practical and realistic for series production. 
  • Interface as needed across all areas and organizations within Gentex to ensure feasibility & consensus. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Product development competency. Demonstrate success in engineering fundamentals & project management.
  • Utilize your experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals in multiple complex projects. 
  • Be a team player, dependable, problem solver, motivated, and customer oriented. 
  • Creativity and situational flexibility. You must be comfortable navigating ambiguity with minimal. requirements and enjoy developing innovative solutions to solve problems.
  • Complying with all Company policies and procedures, safety regulations, company safety policies and safely perform all duties, including but not limited to, promoting a safe workplace. 
  • Maintaining high level of honesty, integrity and confidentiality with respect to company matters. 

WHAT TO BRING

  • B.S. degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated success maintaining internal and external communications. 

WHAT WILL HELP

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience working with a variety of fields, disciplines, practices, and procedures
