WHAT YOU GET TO DO

This role is responsible for configuring and setting up digital twin simulations for PLC-based systems, as well as supporting the testing and troubleshooting of both digital twin and PLC-controlled environments. The Digital Twin Engineer I applies technical knowledge of simulation tools and PLC systems to execute simulation support activities during system integration and commissioning to ensure alignment between PLC logic and digital twin environments, and resolve issues identified during testing. This role collaborates with project teams to align simulation setups with project milestones and provides support and guidance during validation and commissioning phases.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Configure, validate, and optimize digital twin simulation environments to ensure alignment with system design and reliable execution of testing and commissioning activities.
  • Exercise independent judgment in analyzing system behavior during simulation and PLC testing to differentiate root causes between PLC logic and simulation environments and guide resolution.
  • Independently troubleshoot and resolve issues identified during digital twin testing, PLC testing, integration, and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure simulation environments are configured, validated, and available in alignment with project schedules, test plans, and commissioning milestones.
  • Escalate system performance deviations and/or timeline risks to project teams.
  • Partner with controls, commissioning, and project teams to ensure simulation environments accurately reflect system design and operational intent.
  • Provide day-to-day technical guidance on simulation tools and structured testing practices to support consistent execution across team members.
  • Manage simulation licensing and environment capacity to support current and upcoming project demands.
  • Develop and maintain documentation including simulation configurations, test setups, issues, resolutions, and lessons learned to improve standardization and repeatability.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU HAVE

  • Working knowledge of digital twin tools, simulation workflows, and configuration of virtual testing environments for PLC-based systems.
  • 2–4 years of experience supporting PLC systems, commissioning activities, and integration or system testing in industrial automation environments.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot testing issues and determine whether root causes originate from PLC logic, system interfaces, or simulation behavior.
  • Experience configuring and supporting digital twin environments, including multi-PLC or integrated system test scenarios.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work through complex technical issues in a structured manner.
  • Effective technical documentation skills, including the ability to clearly capture configurations, test setups, issues, and resolutions.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work in alignment with project schedules, testing timelines, and commissioning milestones.
