The Communication Technologies and Engineering Division (CTED) represents the disciplines of communications, networking, and PNT (Position, Navigation, and Timing) in support of space missions, along with their enabling technologies. In our domain, CTED projects comprise all aspects, from architectures to prototypes to implementation, theoretical to hands-on. Our engineers work directly with corporate and U.S. Government customers to ensure robust and resilient communications.
The Aerospace Corporation's Digital Communications Implementation Department (DCID) uses software-defined radios and FPGA technology to develop advanced communication and navigation system prototypes that solve our customer's most challenging problems related to digital communication systems. DCID's support includes guiding the acquisition of next generation communication and navigation systems needed by our customer, helping industry implement cutting edge technology and creating innovative solutions to our customers' most challenging problems. What You'll Be Doing

  • Implement, test and evaluate new communication/navigation concepts
  • Rapid development and testing of hardware including Receivers/Simulators and Military Communication Devices
  • Work on cutting edge navigation techniques using alternative navigation signals
  • Work as an individual or as a team member on analytical and experimental studies
  • Guide future technology investment through briefing work products to customers and colleagues
  • Candidate will work on a diverse set of projects. It is very important to be hands-on, willing to learn and be comfortable in working in an environment with engineers of diverse backgrounds and expertise


What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements - Member of Technical Staff:

  • Bachelor's degree or completing a bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
  • One or more years of related industry experience
  • Understanding in an area of digital signal processing & digital communications
  • Familiarity with GNU Radio
  • FPGA development and HDL (Verilog or VHDL) experience
  • Proficiency with one or more of the following: MATLAB, C/C++, Python
  • Experience working with and developing in a Unix/Linux Environment
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a clearance


In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Senior Member of Technical Staff include:

  • Masters or PhD degree from an accredited program in Communication Theory and Digital Signal Processing or another related field.
  • Four or more years of related industry experience
  • Understanding in an area of digital signal processing & digital communications
  • Familiarity with GNU Radio
  • FPGA development and HDL (Verilog or VHDL) experience
  • Proficiency with one or more of the following: MATLAB, C/C++, Python
  • Experience working with and developing in a Unix/Linux Environment
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a clearance


How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Masters or PhD degree from an accredited program in Communication Theory and Digital Signal Processing or another related field.
  • Experience with GNSS/GPS positioning and navigation, or alternative navigation techniques
  • Work with satellite systems (flight computers, components, communications systems, etc.)
  • Familiarity with AI/ML use for navigation
  • Ability to design & analyze digital and/or analog circuits
  • GNSS/GPS Reciever Prototyping experience
  • CAD (AutoCAD, Solidworks, etc) experience
  • Additive Manufacturing experience

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
