Summary Generated by Built In

PPG’s Digital organization is transforming how customers discover, evaluate, and select products across both B2B and B2C markets. We are looking for a Product Manager for Product Discovery to own the customer experience of finding products and to lead the strategy that increases selection confidence and conversion.

This role is also responsible for driving product data standardization and partnering across business units to build a unified, future-ready product information foundation.

You will define the strategy, vision, lead prioritization, run product discovery and delivery processes, and collaborate across Digital, Marketing, IT, PIM, and Business Unit teams to deliver best-in-class product discovery experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Product Discovery & Customer Journey

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on how customers discover, evaluate, and narrow product across digital channels, driving toward a unified “One PPG” experience.
  • Own the end-to-end product finding and discovery strategy, including search, filters, product detail pages, comparison tools, and navigational frameworks.
  • Identify friction in the discovery and evaluation journey and drive improvements that increase engagement, selection confidence, and conversion.
  • Define and track success metrics that reflect customer engagement and movement through the product finding journey, including product discovery interactions, product detail engagement, and conversion behavior.

Product Data Standardization & Governance

  • Create and maintain a standardized product taxonomy, attribute model, and metadata framework used across all business units.
  • Define and enforce product data quality standards (completeness, accuracy, richness, compliance) and partner with BUs to close gaps.
  • Collaborate with business units to build multi year product data roadmaps, ensuring alignment to digital customer needs and platform capabilities.
  • Lead governance practices to ensure cross-BU alignment
  • Identify opportunities for tooling (e.g., PIM systems, enrichment tools) that increase product data quality, speed and scalability.

Strategic Product Leadership

  • Translate customer insights, business requirements, and market opportunities into a clear product vision and roadmap.
  • Run modern product discovery practices, including interviewing users, prototyping, validating concepts, and partnering with design and data teams.
  • Define and prioritize user stories to maintain a healthy backlog aligned with strategy and technical integrity. Accept completed work as part of sprint cycles and partner with BU for UAT
  • Partner with Marketing, Operations, IT, and external agencies to drive cross-functional execution and alignment.
  • Support change management, training material development, and communication planning for product launches.

Insights, Testing & Optimization

  • Use advanced analytics to understand product-search behavior, content performance, and conversion gaps.
  • Build experimentation roadmaps and run A/B and multivariate tests to optimize product findability, product page performance, and key conversion moments.
  • Establish clear product KPIs and translate analytics into actionable insights and strategies.

Leadership & Influence

  • Inspire and influence matrixed teams without direct authority. Communicate clearly with both technical and non technical stakeholders.
  • Drive alignment across diverse business units and help the organization make sound, data-informed product decisions.
  • Operate with an entrepreneurial mindset—balancing innovation with practical delivery constraints.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in Product Management.
  • Experience with eCommerce, search experience management, product discovery, or PIM/product data systems strongly preferred.
  • Strong communicator who can simplify the complex and tailor messages across audiences.
  • Deep analytical capability, including funnel analysis, segmentation, behavioral analytics, experimentation, and KPI development.
  • Demonstrated history of influencing cross-functional teams and leading without authority.
  • Experience with modern Agile and/or SAFe methodologies.
  • Ability to navigate trade-offs and make prioritization decisions grounded in data, risk, and business impact.
