The Role

PROJECT

The product role we are looking for is highly strategic and will become operational only at the end of 2025 (or 2026). It’s at the core of one of Decathlon Retail’s most important and strategic goals 2025 and will have high management visibility.

Currently, managers in stores are using too many applications to manage performance and take business decisions, leading to a fragmented and inefficient user experience and lack of impact in decision-making.

Aim of this project in 2025 is to evaluate the current use (pain points / jobs to be done /…) of several key applications used for performance management in stores. Following the assessment, the target user experience (incl. target application landscape) for these use cases will need to be determined, followed by product vision and strategy. 

The project will likely also include the evaluation and/or start of a Proof-of-concept using AI to respond to user needs.

The current scope covers 3 applications, one desktop analytics, one mobile, on desktop diagnostics. However, the target experience could include the decommissioning of one or more of these products, their integration in other products (potentially with a subteam) and/or the creation of a completely new product.

MISSION

The Product team searches for a Digital Product Manager who drives the evaluation and defines (with the product team) the target experience as well as product vision and strategy.

Key tasks in 2025 will include

  • Evaluate the current use (pain points / jobs to be done /…) of several key applications, including their overlaps with other applications, comparison of similar features etc across mobile and desktop applications
  • Conduct or accompany discovery activities and research in stores to facilitate this assessment and understand the needs as well as local workarounds
  • Accompany the run of three applications until a new product vision and strategy is established
  • Determine (in a team with PMs, Eng and Design) the target user experience for managing performance in stores covering the various use cases incl. target application landscape; this could include the decommissioning of the above mentioned products, their integration in other products (potentially with a subteam) and/or the creation of a completely new product
  • Based on this target user experience one of more new product teams will emerge, the role of the PM will continue in one of them (end of 2025)

You will be part of a product management community in your subdomain. You can leverage your impact by working together with a data product manager, product designer, user researcher and data analyst.

Type of contract: Full time contract

Location : Decathlon Lille Campus or Decathlon Paris Office

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Vision and Strategy : Based on a comprehensive assessment you will determine the placement of your products in the target user experience and application landscape. 
  • Discovery : You will identify user problems, jobs to be done, evaluate the difference applications with respect to their capacity to respond to the needs and drive business impact
  • Delivery : You will ensure a qualitative, fluid and planned delivery.
  • Growth / Data : You will understand and optimize product usage with the support of data analysis and co-create projects using AI with our AI team
  • Stakeholder Management: You will drive alignment with the retail business and other stakeholders such as process owners.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience in digital product management, ideally on product strategy and vision
  • Knowledge on performance management (data and KPI-driven) products preferred 
  • Experience on AI-enabled products preferred
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire employees
  • In-depth knowledge of agile product development methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and various stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in French and English
