KCRA 3, the news leader in Northern California and a Hearst Television station, is looking for a Digital Multimedia Journalist. This position combines the energy of live television reporting and creating multimedia for our digital and social platforms. The successful candidate loves to tell stories and collaborate with our news team about how to connect with audiences in meaningful ways on TV, web, streaming and social media. You will report to the News Operations Manager. This is an IBEW Union position.
Responsibilities
- Present live reports, including breaking news, for weekend morning newscasts.
- Capture, edit, and publish timely, engaging content for all platforms.
- Pitch and execute unique story ideas for original digital-only coverage.
- Experiment with creative formats for short-form video, long-form storytelling, live streaming and interactive content.
- Maintain brand consistency while embracing platform-specific tone and style.
- Produce platform-optimized videos, graphics, and written content that go beyond what airs on TV.
- Support audience growth by creating shareable, compelling content designed for social media.
- Exhibit unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
Requirements
- 2 or more years of professional experience in digital content production, journalism or broadcasting
Strong storytelling, writing, and script-editing skills
- Can carry up to 30 pounds of equipment
- Must have experience with video editing tools
- Have a valid driver's license and a clear driving record
- Work varied shifts, including mornings, weekends and holidays
- Deep understanding of current digital trends, social media algorithms and audience engagement techniques
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to thrive under deadline pressure and juggle multiple priorities
- Related military experience will be considered
- Bilingual experience is a plus
Salary
The estimated base salary range for this role is between $58,000 and $70,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs, market demands and conditions, including geographic location where the work will be performed, and other factors permitted by law. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
