Digital Manufacturing Engineer

Derby, Bristol, Inchinnan or Barnoldswick – Hybrid

Full time – 37 hours per week

We have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Manufacturing Engineer to join the team, open to applications from any UK site.

As a Digital Manufacturing Engineer, you will develop and evolve supported digital products: data, applications, analytics, and AI capabilities. That enable smarter decisions, improved operational performance, and trusted data-driven outcomes across our manufacturing environment. You will work closely with stakeholders to transform business challenges into scalable technical solutions that deliver measurable value.

You will be at the heart of our digital transformation, connecting business needs with technical solutions and ensuring the successful delivery of manufacturing innovation.

What you will be doing:

  • Drive the Digital strategies, bridging the gap between complex Manufacturing & Operations data and high value data driven insights.

  • Improving and transforming existing digital capabilities in alignment with business and enterprise architecture roadmaps.

  • Acting as a key interface between engineering, IT and operational teams.

  • Leading future-state manufacturing process design with safety at the core.

  • Supporting system and functional design to ensure tools enable safe and efficient operations.

  • Defining and executing system integration and user acceptance testing.

  • Preparing teams for process and system changes through effective engagement and clear communication.

  • Leading pilot deployments, defining success criteria and creating scalable rollout playbooks.

  • Building strong user communities to support adoption and continuous improvement.

  • Translating complex operational needs into clear, structured requirements, including user stories and process maps.

  • Communicating effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders and balancing multiple priorities and perspectives across a diverse stakeholder group.

  • Identifying opportunities to enhance manufacturing processes and digital systems.

  • Using data insights to improve safety, quality, cost and delivery performance, supporting a Right First Time culture and reducing operational risk.

  • Working closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers and partners.

  • Sharing best practice, lessons learned and technical knowledge across the organisation.

Position Qualifications:

  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering or digital transformation environments.

  • Understanding of manufacturing operations, including planning, logistics and production execution.

  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence without authority.

  • Experience of working with cross-functional teams in complex environments.

  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Engineering qualification, for example HND, degree or equivalent experience.

  • Professional accreditation, such as IEng or CEng.

  • Experience of supporting digital transformation, system implementation or manufacturing process improvement.

  • Experience of supporting change, user adoption and the implementation of new digital capabilities within a manufacturing environment.
