Overview

The Digital Infrastructure Specialist oversees the organization’s client-facing digital systems and web presence, ensuring seamless operation, security, and optimization of digital platforms. This role focuses on delivering affordable, high-impact websites and digital solutions for South African businesses, working closely with the IT Infrastructure Specialist to align digital offerings with robust infrastructure. It bridges web management and system support to enhance client satisfaction within Managed IT Solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Systems Support

• Support the IT Infrastructure Specialist by leveraging core infrastructure (servers, networks) for digital platforms.
  
• Monitor digital system performance metrics and resolve technical issues proactively.
  
• Safeguard web and digital assets through access controls, backups, and security protocols.
  
• Configure application hosting environments and perform application-specific backups, coordinating with IT Infrastructure Specialist for server-level support.
  
• Assist in upgrading infrastructure with technologies that enhance digital performance.
  
• Collaborate with IT Infrastructure Specialist and other teams to ensure system interoperability and optimal website functionality over connectivity solutions (e.g., SD-WAN, fiber).
  

Digital Presence Oversight

• Design, build, and maintain functional, user-friendly websites tailored to South African clients, emphasizing affordability and local relevance.
  
• Conduct cross-browser, cross-platform testing to ensure compatibility and accessibility.
  
• Track web traffic, performance analytics, and user engagement to optimize client outcomes.
  
• Enhance website security with firewalls, authentication layers, and regular updates.
  
• Improve load times, scalability, and overall site performance over BIA/DIA and SD-WAN networks.
  
• Troubleshoot web issues, such as broken links or rendering errors, ensuring a polished user experience.
  
• Update digital content and refine SEO strategies for maximum visibility in local markets.
  

Required Skills

• Familiarity with IT infrastructure (databases, networking, patching) with a focus on supporting digital applications.
  
• Proficiency in system security, backup, and recovery methodologies for web platforms.
  
• Strong command of HTML/CSS, XML, SQL, and JavaScript for website development.
  
• Experience with diverse operating systems (Windows, Linux, Mac) for web hosting and testing.
  
• Advanced troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving abilities for digital systems.
  
• Expertise in web analytics, SEO, and performance optimization tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
  
• Proficiency with digital management platforms (e.g., WordPress, cPanel) and workflows.
  
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work with clients and IT teams.
  
• Ability to innovate while maintaining attention to detail for client deliverables.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  
• Proven experience in web development or digital system management, with some exposure to system administration.
  
• Professional certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, AWS, or web development credentials) are advantageous.
  
• Strong organizational skills and capacity to manage concurrent priorities.
  
• Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments with a focus on delivering client results.
  
• Experience crafting digital solutions for diverse South African businesses is a plus.
