Position Overview:

The Digital Fraud Analyst plays a critical role in protecting CIBC and its clients from digital and transactional fraud. Operating in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, the Analyst is responsible for conducting moderate to complex research and analysis of online and mobile banking activity as well as debit card activity to identify, prevent, and mitigate suspicious or fraudulent behavior. This position will require a percentage of time spent on conducting reviews related to Quality Assurance (QA) Testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize alerts pertaining to Wire, ACH, Zelle, or other digital payments effectively in a high-volume environment, maintaining a strong focus on minimizing fraud losses and protecting the client experience.
  • Review digital applications for account openings for signs of potential synthetic fraud or identity theft.
  • Identify Fraud Types; recognize and mitigate risks related to Business Email Compromise, account takeover, or payments related to consumer scams, while remaining vigilant for other emerging fraud schemes.
  • Monitor debit card alerts on alerted suspect transaction and conduct outbound transaction verification calls as needed.
  • Prepare thorough and accurate reports on fraud events, ensuring all findings are clearly documented in accordance with department standards.
  • Communicate professionally with clients who may be victims or suspects in fraud cases, gathering necessary information and providing support as appropriate.
  • Awareness of fraud trends, scams, and best practices to proactively identify potentially fraudulent activity.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance reviews for US Fraud Operational Functions as assigned by independently reviewing fraud cases, ensuring they are handled in an accurate, consistent and timely manner.

  • Critical thinking and sound judgment in prioritizing tasks and making decisions under pressure.

Additional Desired Skills:

  • Experience using fraud monitoring systems and alert management tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with individuals, ask insightful questions, and elicit relevant information during investigations.
  • Ability to think critically and adapt questioning strategies in real-time to effectively gather facts and assess situations.
  • Experience with QA processes, rubrics, and measurements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • College degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2–4 years of experience monitoring online and mobile banking applications for fraud.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 for the Chicago market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
