We’re looking for a Digital Engineer to join our Major Projects team on the project Papakura to Drury (P2D), site office will be based in Drury.
Project Scope: SH1 P2D (Stage 1B) is part of a staged upgrade to improve SH1 and adjacent multi modal travel reliability, access, and safety. Stage 1B ties into Stage1A, NIMT Bridges, and completes a combined 6km of three laned SH1 in both directions, six new motorway bridges and multiple interfacing local roads, over motorway bridges, Shared User Paths (SUPs) and upgraded utilities.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll work closely with our construction, engineering and survey teams to keep drawings, models and digital project information sharp, current and ready for site.
You’ll be trusted to produce accurate drafting and modelling outputs, support day-to-day construction needs, and help improve how we use digital tools across the project. It’s a role for someone who likes solving real problems, works well with others, and enjoys building better ways of doing things
Key role responsibilities
Digital Modelling
- Produce earthworks and constructions Models, including subgrade models, temporary earthworks profiles, drill shots etc.
- Participate with the monthly volume measurements, data download & data processing Model utility and drainage networks in Civil 3D and publish it to propeller to support Construction planning and execution
- Support the construction team by preparing sketches for submission to designers as part of the quality review process
GIS
- Develop derived data products from surveyed geospatial data to support project needs
- Work with delivery partners to standardise the creation of geospatially accurate 2D and 3D models, ensuring GIS, CAD, and BIM data compatibility by guiding the development of interoperable models.
- Oversee CAD drawings, 3D models, and geospatial information by managing content in common data environments
- Utilize construction software packages like Autodesk, Esri, Trimble, and 12D to configure and deploy geospatial solutions
Drafting services
- Provide drafting services and expertise as required by the Construction and Survey teams.
- Record and maintain as built data for all disciplines in the master files – to be in both CAD and pdf formats into M-Files or similar.
- Update the as built and design data on Propeller to ensure project information remains current and reliable for Engineering & construction reference
- Maintain accurate site measurement records, drawing registers, revision histories, model files and document control to support site engineering and client information requirements.
- Participation in the other functions of the project survey office, including but not limited to: - assisting with survey administration records, providing and assisting project engineering staff with AutoCAD and PDF drawings for site use.
General
- Assist with the evolving digital survey/engineering requirements of the project.
- Provide drafting and modelling support to other projects as directed
- Maintain open communication with teams, management and clients, while identifying and raising issues and opportunities to improve drafting, model coordination and digital construction processes.
- Establish and enforce quality control measures to ensure that all digital models and data meet the required standards by implementing quality assurance processes.
- Offer basic training and support on digital engineering solutions to various business departments
We’re looking for someone with
- A diploma or degree in Surveying or similar equivalent.
- Have 5+ years of experience in the construction sector, with relevant experience in Surveying Data.
- Must be proficient in using Digital Engineering desktop software’s such as Civil 3D and Safe Software’s FME Form and Flow platform.
- Proficienty in Revit, Navisworks, 12D model, or similar is also ideal.
- Be competent in using and managing common data environments (CDE) like Autodesk Construction Cloud, Trimble Connect, and ArcGIS Online also ideal.
- Understand and/or have a desire to learn and implement spatial workflows using the Esri ArcGIS ecosystem and be familiar with relevant field-based workflows including engineering surveying practices.
- Demonstrate strong data management skills, including the documentation of processes and deliverables.

This is a permanent, full-time position with a minimum of 40 hours per week based in Auckland region. The base salary for this role will be between $90,000 - $120,000 per annum.

Skills Required
