The Digital News Producer is responsible for creating, publishing, and optimizing news content across all digital platforms — including website, mobile apps, CTV/OTT channels, and social media. This role requires strong news judgment, visual storytelling, quick turnaround, and a digital-first mindset. The ideal candidate can write, shoot, edit, and publish content independently while also working collaboratively with the newsroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Write, edit, and publish news articles, breaking news alerts, live updates, and feature content for web and mobile.
- Shoot and edit photos and video for digital and social platforms.
- Upload and manage video clips, livestreams, and OTT/CTV programming using newsroom CMS and video platforms.
- Produce short and long-form video content using Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Audition, Canva, or similar tools.
- Appear on camera for explainers, digital hits, interviews, or live social segments when needed.
- Create engaging headlines, push alerts, and metadata optimized for SEO and social performance.
- Monitor scanners, social feeds, and wires for breaking news and emerging content opportunities.
- Collaborate with broadcast producers, reporters, and photographers to convert on-air content into digital-first stories.
- Execute social media strategy by posting and scheduling content across Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and others.
- Track performance using analytics tools (Adobe/Google Analytics, Chartbeat, CrowdTangle) and adjust strategy accordingly.
- Ensure all content meets journalistic, legal, and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Digital Media, Communications, or equivalent newsroom experience.
- Strong writing, spelling, and AP Style proficiency.
- Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Arc, Bitcentral, Lakana, Clickability).
- Proficient in shooting and editing both photos and video using DSLR, mobile, or ENG equipment.
- Strong understanding of SEO, social media strategy, and audience behavior.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
- Flexible schedule — must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as news demands.
Preferred Skills
- Confident on-camera presence and/or hosting ability.
- Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Audition, Photoshop) and Canva.
- Experience with livestreaming, OTT/CTV publishing, and YouTube optimization.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Interest in visual formats — reels, explainers, graphics, or interactive storytelling.
