We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Digital Content Producer to join our newsroom. This is a role that will blend digital content producing and assignment desk duties.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and track news stories from various sources including government agencies, wire services, social media, and community organizations
- Coordinate logistics and support for news coverage, including field communication and resource planning
- Participate in daily editorial meetings; pitch and prioritize stories for both broadcast and digital
- Assist in developing and planning enterprise and day-of news content
- Edit video clips and write engaging stories for the web and other digital platforms
- Curate, package, and optimize content for website and social media to drive audience growth and engagement
- Use data tools such as Google Analytics, Chartbeat, and A/B headline testing to inform decisions and improve story performance
- Write compelling headlines, select impactful images, and improve thumbnails for maximum audience engagement
- Promote content across social media channels and support SEO best practices
- Collaborate closely with newsroom staff and contribute to cross-platform content distribution
- Monitor real-time traffic and audience trends to make fast, informed editorial decisions
Requirements & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, or related field—or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a newsroom, digital content role, or similar fast-paced media environment
- Excellent news judgment and communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong headline-writing, copy-editing, and content packaging skills
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), social platforms, and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Chartbeat)
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and adapt to rapidly changing priorities
- Fluency in English; knowledge of AP Style and SEO best practices
- Technical proficiency with MS Office; experience with HTML, CSS, Photoshop a plus
- Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and breaking news shifts
