As an API Technical Product Director in Digital Channels, you'll lead innovation through the development of products and features that delight customers and developers. As a leader on the team, you'll leverage your experience to challenge traditional approaches, remove barriers to success, and foster a culture of continuous innovation that helps inspire cross-functional teams create groundbreaking solutions that address customer needs.
In this role you are expected to have a comprehensive view of all the moving parts within our product delivery model, making strategic decisions that drive our API landscape within the Payments organization, while ensuring that each team can effectively execute their part of the strategy (e.g. Global Payments, Merchant Services, Embedded Banking, others).
Job responsibilities

  • Oversees the API portfolio product roadmap, governance, vision, development, execution, risk management, and business growth targets
  • Set the strategic direction for API development and integration across the Payments organization. This involves understanding and aligning the API needs of various business units and ensuring that the overarching API strategy supports the organization's goals
  • Establish and enforce standards for API product development, usage, and security. This includes creating guidelines for API documentation, versioning, and deprecation policies to ensure consistency and high quality in API interfaces
  • Act as a liaison between different product teams/partners who own their respective APIs. You will facilitate collaboration and communication among these teams
  • Promote innovative practices for API development and encouraging the adoption of new technologies and methodologies
  • Help drive educational programs and training sessions for API developers and product teams within the Payments organization
  • Identify and address technical and business risks associated with API exposure and consumption, including data security and compliance with relevant regulations and controls processes
  • Coaches and mentors the product team on best practices, such as solution generation, market research, storyboarding, mind-mapping, prototyping methods, product adoption strategies, and product delivery, enabling them to effectively deliver on objectives
  • Owns product performance and is accountable for investing in enhancements to achieve business objectives
  • Monitors market trends, conducts competitive analysis, and identifies opportunities for product differentiation


Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:

  • 8+ years of experience or equivalent expertise delivering products, projects, or technology applications
  • Extensive knowledge of the product development life cycle, technical design, and data analytics
  • Proven ability to influence the adoption of key product life cycle activities including discovery, ideation, strategic development, requirements definition, and value management
  • Experience driving change within organizations and managing stakeholders across multiple function
  • Strong experience in designing, developing, and managing APIs. Familiarity with RESTful services, SOAP, GraphQL, and other API protocols
  • Experience with system architecture and integrating diverse systems in a complex environment
  • Experience working in or managing in a federated model organization where collaboration and coordination across multiple teams/projects are required
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and foster strong collaboration among diverse teams
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment, with a track record of motivating and guiding teams to success
  • Technical and Program Management experience
