We made history and now we work to transform the future – for our customers, our communities and our families. You'll see your work on the road every day, helping people move freely and pursue their dreams. At Ford, you can build more than vehicles. Come build what matters.

Digital Product Design (DPD) at Ford is committed to envisioning and creating simple, thoughtful, enjoyable, and compelling product experiences that our customers need and love. We work in close partnership with product and engineering to deliver best-in-class interactions experiences that meet the needs of people today, and in the future. Our team is comprised of a dynamic group of product designers, researchers, visual designers, industrial designers, modelers, and project managers.

In this position...
We are looking for a Digital Asset Coordinator to serve as the operational backbone of our 3D content pipeline—orchestrating the flow of assets and data between design studios, Digital Product Design, and engineering. This is an individual-contributor role (no direct reports) for someone who thrives at the intersection of creative vision and technical execution, driving complex 3D production lifecycles for vehicle programs, real-time workflows, and 3D digital twin environments.

The ideal candidate will support the Core UX center of excellence within Digital Product Design, reporting directly to the 3D Design Manager.
This role is located in Dearborn, MI on a Hybrid work model reporting to the office 4 days per week.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

Asset & Deliverable Tracking

  • Gather all required assets needed to support visualizations in the digital experience, including validated data, CMF (Color, Materials, Finish) references, optimized geometry, and technical design artifacts.
  • Support production lifecycles for In-Vehicle technical design-related work.
  • Track deliverables across multiple concurrent vehicle programs, ensuring visibility into asset status, risks, and pipeline dependencies at all times.
  • Align asset delivery schedules with overarching vehicle program milestones leading up to design completion.
  • Gathering feature definition requirements, documentation and behaviors as it pertains to the 3D Digital Twin feature design.

Cross-Functional Liaison

  • Serve as the primary cross-functional partner between Ford design studios and Digital Product Design engineering teams.
  • Translate creative intent from cross-functional partners into clear technical data briefs for production teams, and translate technical constraints back into actionable creative guidance.
  • Facilitate reviews, approvals, and feedback loops between stakeholders to keep the data pipeline moving without unnecessary delays.
  • Drive the adoption of process improvements across interacting teams.

Pipeline Oversight

  • Contribute to Virtual Garage to support content creation ranging from prototyping, photorealistic renderings/animations, and storytelling, to in-vehicle technical asset creation.
  • Optimize CAD-to-Real-Time production pipelines, ensuring data preparation and validation meets rigorous automotive quality standards.
  • Partner with technical artists and engineers to troubleshoot pipeline bottlenecks across tools such as Unreal Engine, Maya, and VRED surrounding vehicle assets and visualizations.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation of production workflows, asset naming conventions, and version control standards to ensure consistency across internal teams and external vendors.

Scope & Risk Identification

  • Proactively identify pipeline bottlenecks, missing data, and technical risks before they impact development timelines.
  • Coordinate asset delivery timelines with internal teams and external vendors, tracking statements of work and change orders.
  • Escalate risks and trade-off decisions to stakeholders with clear, data-backed recommendations.
Qualifications

What you'll have...

  • Education: Bachelors or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Production Experience:  6+ years of creative coordination or technical pipeline experience within automotive studios, creative/CGI agencies, or automotive-focused production pipelines.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated experience tracking complex, multi-stakeholder 3D asset programs from concept through final delivery.
  • Technical Data Literacy: Deep understanding of automotive 3D data workflows, including Class-A surfacing, engineering CAD (Catia, Alias), and real-time rendering engines (Unreal Engine, VRED). Familiarity with CGI production pipelines, including tessellation, data smithing/cleanup, texturing, and lighting workflows for both photorealistic automotive and embedded hardware visualizations.
  • Automotive Knowledge: Working knowledge of vehicle development phases (concept, design freeze, engineering validation, launch), trim levels, and options/configurator logic. Strong understanding of confidentiality protocols and data security practices required for handling unreleased vehicle programs.
  • Individual Leadership: Proven ability to self-manage competing priorities across multiple programs without direct oversight. Skilled at influencing creative and technical teams without formal authority, building trust through credibility and clear communication. Comfortable presenting pipeline statuses, risks, and trade-offs to senior leadership and executive stakeholders.

Even better you'll have...

  • Digital Twin Expertise: Experience with digital twin environments or virtual production tools within an automotive or product design context.
  • Project Tracking: Familiarity with production tracking software (e.g., Jira) to manage timelines and complex design pipelines.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Background partnering with external departments to manage assets, configurator content, marketing and build-and-price complexity.
  • Product Accuracy: Strong attention to detail, with the ability to interpret program data and CMF (Color, Materials, Finish) specifications to ensure absolute visual fidelity.
  • AI-Enhanced Workflows: Integration of AI tools to drive pipeline efficiencies, accelerate pace, and scale high-quality output.
