Agile Product Owner

Are you excited by transforming digital experiences? Are you motivated by tackling customer challenges, and finding ways to improve their experiences? Do you like seeing the end-to-end impact of your work, from high-level idea to finished product? If so, The Hartford has a place for you.The Hartford is seeking an Agile Product Owner to join the Enterprise Digital team to support sales / acquisition portals and APIs. The individual would report through the Value Stream Owner for Global Specialty Digital, and be responsible for leading multiple sprint teams through scaled agile frameworks to ideate and deliver market leading capabilities. The role would focus on the Global Specialty business, a segment within the Hartford's Commercial Insurance group. The candidate would focus predominantly on enhancing go-to-market capabilities in insurance product acquisition, with a heavy focus on tools utilized by our Agency partners in quoting and issuing insurance products. Sample project areas include integration of AI capabilities with digital tools, as well as driving user-centered redesigns of new business experiences. The candidate would also be a member of the Enterprise Digital function, and be responsible for sharing best practices around user experience and digital solutions with peers across other segments.Key Responsibilities:

  • The Product Owner is a member of multiple sprint teams on an Agile Release Train, and represents the business in driving day to delivery with the development team. This includes backlog refinement, feature and user story decomposition, user story acceptance, UAT and business change management planning, and release and control monitoring
  • The Product Owner is the primary interface with the business, and must facilitate working sessions with a broad representation of business stakeholders to both ideate new concepts, as well as to refine requirements to translate to the tech team. Facilitation with senior level stakeholders is a common occurrence, so experience and comfort "managing up" is a must
  • The Product Owner is accountable for the backlog health, and must partner with the Release Train Engineer, Agile Product Manager, Scrum Master, Tech Lead and BA to ensure shovel ready work for the development team, as well as to drive focus and priorities on competing asks
  • The Product Owner drives the business change management and control monitoring, ensuring proper communication and monitoring mechanisms are in place to measure success of the product and inform future iterations
  • The Product Owner must keep stakeholders informed, and is a key contributor to 2x a month business / product leadership meetings
  • The Product Owner is accountable for driving improved user experience, and must utilize tools such as AB Testing, Web Analytics, Usability Studies, and UX teammates to improve the experience for the customer and inform future investments

Requirements:

  • Obsession with customer experience, with curiosity to find new ways to improve the user experience and drive quantifiable outcomes
  • Experience leading product execution for 2 or more agile scrum teams in a scaled agile environment (2-3 years minimum)
  • Experience articulating the product vision and product roadmap
  • Familiarity with digital assets, including the use of AB Testing, UX practices, and Web Analytics
  • Experience managing a Product Backlog, including prioritization and management of senior level stakeholders who may disagree on common priorities
  • Experience working in Insurance products highly preferred
  • Ability to be a self starter, diving in head first with sprint team and taking ownership of identifying issues and recommending solutions. While there is a strong support network around the role, we are looking for a candidate that can take ownership and drive bodies of work forward independently as part of larger initiatives
  • A team player. The candidate must work well with their delivery teams as a "well oiled machine," each person knowing role they must play but being aggressive in driving a healthy, supportive culture
  • Experience with Rally, APIs, Google Analytics, Tealium, Agentic AI tools, and Optimizely a plus
