At Nexus Children's Hospital – Shenandoah, our Registered Dietitians play a vital role in supporting the nutritional health of patients across the hospital. Working alongside physicians, nurses, therapists, and other clinical professionals, you'll help develop individualized nutrition plans that promote healing, recovery, and overall wellness for children with complex medical and behavioral needs.

This PRN opportunity is ideal for a compassionate, collaborative Dietitian who enjoys working in a multidisciplinary environment and making a meaningful impact throughout the hospital.

What You'll Do
  • Perform comprehensive nutrition assessments and ongoing monitoring in accordance with DNV standards.
  • Develop individualized nutrition care plans within 72 hours of admission.
  • Evaluate and approve patient menus, therapeutic diets, and nutritional modifications.
  • Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary treatment team to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, patient care conferences, and hospital committees.
  • Educate patients and families on nutrition, therapeutic diets, and food-drug interactions.
  • Provide nutrition education and in-service training for nursing and dietary staff.
  • Monitor patient progress through laboratory values, weight trends, calorie counts, and other nutritional indicators.
  • Develop creative nutritional strategies for children with feeding difficulties, failure to thrive, gastrointestinal disorders, and other specialized dietary needs.
  • Maintain timely, accurate documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Assist with performance improvement initiatives, policy development, and quality enhancement projects.
  • Support the nutritional needs of patients throughout the hospital while maintaining compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year of clinical dietitian experience required.
  • Pediatric or hospital experience preferred.

Licensure

  • Licensed Dietitian (LD) in the State of Texas.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
