A Brief Overview
The Dietitian Support Associate is responsible for working under the supervision of a licensed Dietitian and may conduct nutrition screening, calculating intake records, providing basic patient education, and serving as a liaison between Patient Services and Clinical Nutrition within the department. All work must be reviewed and countersigned by supervising licensed Dietitian with daily supervision and case reviews required.
Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field Required
  • Master's Degree Currently enrolled in Master’s program or recently graduated, not to exceed 6 months post graduation.

Experience Qualifications

  • Completed or currently completing accredited dietetic internship program Required
  • If post Master’s degree must show documentation of preparation of CDR examination. Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to counsel and educate others.
  • Ability to understand and interpret the objectives of the nutrition intervention program
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to patients and families.

What you will do

  • 1. Works ONLY under direct supervision of Kansas-licensed dietitians
  • 2. Support licensed dietitians in nutrition care processes
  • 3. Collect and document basic nutrition information as directed
  • 4. Prepare and distribute standardized nutrition education materials
  • 5. Assist with screening to identify patients requiring RD intervention
  • 6. Document in EMR under supervision within defined parameters
  • 7. Support data collection for quality improvement initiatives
  • 8. Provide administrative support for nutrition care processes
  • Participates in departmental activities to facilitate patient care and operations. (Including participation in quality focus teams, committees, recipe tasting, and revisions/updates to department policies and procedures.

Skills Required
