Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
To provide assistance in all dietary functions as directed and instructed in accordance with established federal, state, and local dietary regulations, policies, and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the preparation and service of food.
- Know and use portion control procedures.
- Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning.
- Assist in dish and utensil washing and cleaning, including gathering soiled items and placing clean items in proper storage areas.
- Assist in checking all trays/plates for completion while ensuring accuracy of menu and diet preferences.
- Ensure proper storage of foods; ensure that all food storage, preparation, and distribution areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner and that necessary equipment and supplies are properly maintained and arranged.
- Perform all daily tasks in accordance with established universal precautions and sanitary, safety, and infection control policies and procedures.
- Promptly report all hazardous conditions, equipment, accidents, and incidents to the activities and food service director and/or administration.
- Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Ensure resident, patient, visitor, and employee safety while performing all duties and responsibilities.
- Maintain resident and patient confidentiality.
- Know and comply with residents' rights rules.
- Treat residents, patients, visitors, and coworkers with kindness, dignity, and respect at all times.
- Attend and participate in orientation, training, mandatory education, in-services, staff meetings, and education courses as instructed to further improve knowledge and skills.
- Promote teamwork; encourage others to work to the best of their ability; assist with training of new coworkers if needed.
- Have a positive attitude; be willing to accept change; follow facility rules, regulations, and job assignments; accept corrective criticism professionally, perform well with minimum supervision; cooperate with supervisor(s) and exhibit respect at all times; speak well of the job and the hospital.
- Limit absences, tardiness, and frequent schedule change requests; provide timely absence requests; take allotted breaks; be flexible and willing to come in when needed.
- Follow company dress code.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Educational requirements:
- Completion of elementary education or otherwise show ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must be able to speak and understand English.
No experience required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to stand four or more consecutive hours per shift.
Must be able to walk four or more consecutive hours per shift.
Must be able to reach four or more consecutive hours per shift.
Must be able to bend four or more consecutive hours per shift.
Must be able to grasp four or more consecutive hours per shift.
Must have hand coordination four or more consecutive hours per shift.
Must be able to push & pull four or more consecutive hours per shift.
Must be able to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures.
Must be able to remain calm under stress.
Skills Required
- Completion of elementary education or ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions.
- Minimum age of 16 years.

- Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, grasp, push and pull for four or more consecutive hours per shift; hand coordination.
