Position Summary:

The Cook's Assistant supports the preparation, serving, and delivery of meals while maintaining a safe, sanitary, and organized kitchen. This role contributes to quality nutrition services and resident satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing meals according to menus and standardized recipes.
  • Support meal service and tray delivery to residents.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, equipment, and utensils.
  • Store food and supplies properly, rotating stock to minimize waste.
  • Follow infection control and food safety policies.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with survey and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of food service safety and sanitation.
  • Ability to follow recipes and kitchen procedures.
  • Organizational and teamwork skills.
  • Communication abilities to support staff and residents.

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Preferred:

  • Food service or kitchen experience in healthcare setting.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Standing/walking for most of shift; frequent bending and lifting (5--40 lbs).
  • Ability to push food carts and work in hot kitchen environment.
