GENERAL SUMMARY

The Dietary Aide is responsible for after-meal clean-up as well as providing service in a friendly manner. This is an hourly (non-exempt) position and reports to the Culinary Services Manager.  

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensures resident satisfaction regarding meals through quality, quantity, and presentation.
  • Observes and practices all department safety and sanitation standards.
  • Sets up/breaks down dining room trays for breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals.
  • Uses dishwasher to clean breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes, utensils, pots and pans.
  • Works food tray-line and calls out diet order per diet card.
  • Sets up residents’ trays with juices, salads and desserts according to diet order.
  • Sorts food tray carts; places foods/items in cart in proper sequence.
  • Prepares nourishment and stocks food deliveries.
  • Cleans dietary services areas using proper chemicals, mops, and brooms.
  • Ensures excellent communications and cooperation as a team member.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent training and experience required.
  • Experience working in a skilled nursing facility, restaurant or food service establishment.
  • Ability to read, follow written & verbal instructions in English and sort food tray cards.
  • Must know basic kitchen sanitation and obtain a food handler card within 30 days of hire.
  • Proper food safety and handling; knowledge of food serving, sanitary dish washing procedures, chemical cleaning safety.
  • Must be able to work weekends and some holidays.
