ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs brake systems, engines, electrical components, steering systems, transmissions, drive trains, and tires for tractors, trailers, and refrigeration equipment.
- Performs preventative maintenance services, including changing oil, checking fluids, inspecting batteries, testing lights, and lubricating equipment.
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair
- Excellent mechanical repair skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues
- Ability to read service and repair manuals
- Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion
- Ability to read work orders
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school degree or equivalent; must be enrolled in an accredited university/college program and actively pursuing a degree in Diesel Technology.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
* Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present
* Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 100lbs.
* Must be able to inspect the vehicle to determine repairs needed
* Good vision to inspect repair work
* Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections
OTHER
Safety shoes (steel or composite toe) required
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The nature of the environment is one in which the employee may come in contact with outside weather conditions, vibration, and moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold or extreme heat, and excessive noise levels.
